I had all four of mine out, before they came through, in 1985. Luckily my dad had Bupa cover through work, so it was organised for when it suited me (just after I finished my A-levels), with a private room and they even asked me what I wanted for breakfast and which paper I'd like in the morning. All went well and the only after effects were a few days of mild discomfort and swelling.

A friend had the same, but on the NHS. He was in and out the same day and suffered for weeks with splinters of tooth coming through the gums.
I had all mine out on the NHS in 1987, as they were impacting the teeth in front. I was in a side room for my entire stay. Looked like a hamster for a few days, but otherwise no significant discomfort, other than contracting rubella from one of the nurses....

Rubella isn't so bad though is it?

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

I'm a happy chappie today and couldn't resist a happy post here.

After about 18 months of searching for a suitable plot of land to build our "forever" house, we (wife and I) finally found a brilliant one a few weeks ago, and after lots of due dilligence and legal research, we signed the deed of sale today.

So we're now the proud owners of a 4.3 acre hill plantation in southern Philippines, with mountain and sea views, currently planted with mango, coconut, banana, papaya and avocado trees. When building we'll keep as many of the trees as possible. Although it's quite rural it has road access with power, water and fibre internet along the road, which will make life easier. And there's a decent-sized city a short drive away. Next step: find a good architect.

PS. This is mainly why Eltikon hasn't seen much progress recently.

All the best for finding an architect and the new build when they've designed something you both like.

It sounds an ideal place to build a new home - congratulations. (And you get your 'five a day' for free!  ;) ).

I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.
If a friend seems distant, catch up with them.

Thanks guys - after such a long and frustrating search (a lot of land here has title and inheritance problems) it's still sinking in and probably will for a while.

Definitely more five-a-day than we could possibly consume, so we'll probably hire a farmhand to pick when ripe and sell to the local market for us. And we may need goats to keep the undergrowth controlled so we can get to the trees... it's the start of the nature-centred lifestyle that I always wanted but never managed in Europe. Quite exciting...

Haha - I don't drink (any more) and don't gamble (unless you count using DHL). However it's about 20 mins drive to a good steak restaurant so that will have to be the yardstick!
