So sad to hear Michael Parkinson, universally acknowledged "King of the Chat Show" has passed away aged 88.
Another of the 'greats' of TV has gone :(

Ali Smith

Sad indeed. Unlike most in that line of work, he understood that it was about his guests, not himself.

He lost it with many of his guests such as Billy Connelly and Peter Kay but the only time I've seen him lose his cool was the infamous Rod Hull & Emu episode

He always struck me as a 'reet nice fella', who seemed to enjoy what he was doing. I do not think there was anyone else like him.
David.
I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.
If a friend seems distant, catch up with them.

Graham

I always used to love his Saturday night show, and he even had his own show in Aus where I believe his daughter lived in Sydney. He will be missed.

Bealman

Yeah, he was a frequent visitor to these shores.

Back in seventies he had a famous falling out with Helen Mirren which has always stuck in my mind.
Vision over visibility. Bono, U2.

I was working in the next studio in Television Centre and several times I slipped into the back of his studio and sat in the audience. Saw his show with Billy Connolly.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.
