N Gauge Discussion / Final (Quarterly) Issue of N G...Last post by Mark - Today at 01:40:11 PMI've just received the latest, and it seems, last edition of N Gauge Now Magazine. There's an editorial announcing Howard's decision to cease publishing quarterly. He cites numerous reasons including increasing postage costs and the challenges of operating as a one man band, especially after his broken ankle. He also says he's pretty much completed one of the magazine's principle aims - recording the history and development of n gauge locomotives and stock and their prototypes, so maybe it has reached the end of its natural lifespan anyway. He suggests there may be annual editions in the future.
I'll miss N Gauge Now - it's always been a well published, enjoyable and informative read. Good luck to Howard and whatever comes next for him. Mark #3

General Discussion / Re: My local bus stopLast post by Train Waiting - Today at 09:21:14 AMIt's a bit unfair making a motorist who happens to be wearing a hat drive at 25mph.
And rather you than me with the 'Aussie Summer Flavours' menu! All good wishes John #6

General Discussion / Re: My local bus stopLast post by Bealman - Today at 06:12:08 AMA lightning storm.
Standing under a power pole in the middle of one is probably not the best place (maybe it is), but that's where Bealman's bus stop is! ![]() Anyway, I thought it funny when I got off the bus to find the summer menu in the middle of the storm. Seeing as there is something that looks like diaroehea (sp?) oozing out of the thing in the middle, I thought the storm was a suitable background for the "summer menu." ![]() OK, weather cleared up a bit. Might get home without getting wet ![]() ![]() #8
General Discussion / Re: A Children's Christmas Sto...Last post by Chris in Prague - Today at 04:54:32 AMJenny Davies was a special young woman, descended from a long line of Celtic chiefs and druids. She had inherited a magical gift that allowed her to talk with animals and birds. Whenever she was alone, the animals and birds would come to her and speak to her in their own language. They would tell her about their lives, their dreams, and their secrets. Jenny felt blessed to have this gift and used it to help her animal and bird friends whenever possible.
Jenny looked up at her friend the robin and asked him if he could fly up to see if there was anything coming along the road from the direction of Penmayne. The robin flew up into the snowy air and circled around a few times, scanning the horizon for any signs of movement. After a few minutes, the robin returned to Jenny and perched on her shoulder. He told her he could see an enormous yellow snowplough lorry in the distance approaching slowly, followed by a green single-decker 'bus. Jenny felt very relieved; help was on the way. She thanked the robin for his help and gave him a small piece of bread from her coat pocket as a token of her gratitude. The robin chirped happily and flew away, disappearing into the snowy landscape. Jenny stepped out into the centre of the road where the snow was not so deep, as most of it had been blown into a massive drift along its edge. She could feel the cold snow crunching under her feet as she walked. The wind was howling, and the snow was falling harder than ever. She worried about the driver of the snowplough, high up in his cab. Could he see her through the falling snow and stop his massive vehicle in time? She was gripped with fear. #9

I would have thought a rebuilt MN would have come from Graham Farish by now if they thought it would be a commercial success. I heard that Bachfar's unrebuilt MN was not so successful because of original Poole version. And Dapol- should we wait another 13 years? #10
General Discussion / Re: Unhappy ThreadLast post by joe cassidy - Yesterday at 09:41:11 PMIn my opinion a cheque, sent by post, is a more secure method of payment than a "card not present" transaction via internet.
My cards have been pirated several times but I have never had a problem with cheque fraud. | Please Support Us!
