Fleischmann stake wagons

Advice needed

I unearthed 8 new Fleischmann stake wagons part no 8202 the small 4 wheel type which i bought probably without research quite a few years ago
any way i wounded where they or something very similar used on the uk net work around the 90,s ? and if so what cargo could be used?
i have a small branch line freight only layout ( in the making) and would like to use them if there was a authentic link to uk use

Speedlink Distribution rented 20 stake wagons from DB in the mid-1980s for round timber traffic between Scotland and Chirk, for the Kronospan chipboard plant. This was prior to the creation of the OTA fleet. They had an 8 metre wheelbase and there was one in the Roco range taken over by Fleischmann. A slightly unorthodox but ive had them running behind a Dapol EWS 56 and they look very business like ..

Lovely pictures of  a rare use of European wagons in the UK.

Not sure if the ferry version was slimmer than the standard German type, given that the  German loading gauge is much more generous than even French loading gauge.

However, you can use the 'true German' model with aplomb since we are into the old 1:160 v 1:148 game, viz:

a 1:160 wagon representing the larger European loading gauge can be use on a British N layout because it equates perfectly to a smaller real wagon in 1:148.

A version of those with the stakes removed was used as a pair of translator wagons for dragging Pendolino cars when they were being upgraded from 9 to 11 cars.  There are quite a few good pics around of the delivery trains.

International Train Ferry Wagons in Colour by David Ratcliffe has a picture of a stake wagon on Page 45 at Ellesmere Port in January 1987 loaded with flasks and drums used by Associated Octel to carry anti-knock compound (which was an additive in leaded petrol I believe).

There are also pictures of similar low wagons without stakes carrying sheeted loads of steel rod, Eurostar bogies, and also new Y25CS bogies. Also a picture of one in use a 'runner' wagon between overhanging loads.
