Merry Christmas Diane
I would like to wish all my friends and members of the Forum A MERRY CHRISTMAS and A HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR and may all your presents from SANTA be N GAUGE.
Bob Tidbury
Same from me
Likewise everyone... Unfortunately I've already spent all my N gauge Xmas cash earlier in the year so no more Xmas pressies for me. However I do have a nice collection of Metcalfe models to keep me busy over the hols.
Happy Xmas and New Year to all.
:claphappy:
A very Merry Christmas to everyone!

Stay warm, stay safe and keep those trains running.

Lets hope that the Chinese don't want to get too prosperous in the New Year! ::)
I am presuming my edict to relatives etc to get me vouchers for my favourite model shop haff been obeyed. After all, how else am I gonna pay for the Farish Castle when it arrives on these shores? :worried:
Hope everyone who's not retired enjoys the break, but mainly I hope all our members come back healthier than they have been in 2016.

daffy,
Thank you - that image of the Snowmen in the (bicycle?) wagon really made me smile
(not everything around Christmas does...) :(.
Is that a
real image, or Photoshop...?
Presumably, if it's real
(and in Switzerland/Austria) the snowmen are not likely to melt... :)

Glad you, and others, like the image. I found it some time ago on the Rhaetian Railways website.
The carriages are open panaotama cars and are used regularly. This link has a picture of the wagons, both old and new type:

So, as far as I can tell, it is a real image - typical Swiss sense of humour.

What's wrong with us oldies?
I'm enjoying my break in sunny Goa, but no train spotting planned for this year.

I am working nights on 24/25/26th this year - okay, to be strictly accurate, I will be at work. However, there are advantages - at work I have a reasonable internet connection, (at home it can be like :headbutt:), and there is the distinct advantage of all the extra money :claphappy: - that's the 'Patriot' paid for then!
But, being serious - A very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Peaceful New Year to you all. I hope you all get little, (like 1:148), presents but more importantly, those who have had 'ailments' over these last twelve months, I hope 2017 sees a big improvement. :beers:
Nadolig Llawen!
Feliz navidad y prosperos año nuevo a todos.
Happy Christmas and Joyeux Noel de Port Regleun to one and all.
May all visiting family and friends arrive safely (and then depart safely and quickly ;)).
Also may all little presents arrive safely.....

Any idea of the target release date in N? Preorders being accepted?
Have already done a Happy Christmas post but thought I'd do another for our friends from Downunder.
Hope all's going well and the sprouts aren't burning on the bar b.
Couldn't sleep so thought I'd use you guys as an excuse to have a sneaky Guinness or two before the missus wakes up.
Have a great day....

I assume it's DCC - Digitally Child Controlled. :D
I would think some parents would prefer the other DCC - Digitally Controlled Child!

'Tis "Plarail", a system very popular here (sort of plastic Brio on steroids), while the models aren't exactly finescale they recognisably represent various prototypes, some railway companies even commission verisions of their trains.

You can actually put a battery in it and movement is controlled by a lever switch on the roof, but the Squidlet is suspicious of toys which move autonomously, so we'll leave that for later.

"Later" as in today, as it turns out. He was a bit taken aback at first but when I showed him how the lever works, he was most delighted, though he still doesn't have the coordination to work it himself but he knows which bit to point at when he wants it to move or stop.
