Finally, the last piece in the jigsaw of my 'Blue train' has arrived.
May I present the 374-587 Farish Hawksworth full brake in weathered blue

No more blue for me (it says 'ere) ;)

So has that just popped up in the shops now?
Same here - last bit of the jigsaw, but haven't been paying attention of late.

Yup - arrived in UK shops about a week before Christmas

A treat to myself following the sale of a few surplus locos was the purchase of a sound-fitted Standard Class 5 73109 with larger BR1B tender. I am really happy with it, having a few of these already, I knew what a good loco it is, and didn't disappoint at all. The sound file is particularly good with four correctly spaced exhaust beat per wheel revolution and a lovely and correctly "busy" sound when running at speed.

Kris

I've added a few locos to my fleet over the Christmas period.

First up, a 158 with sound. It's a noisy whining unit at low speeds but looks lovely.

Second up something totally different, a Bachmann James. Wonderful value in the TMS boxing day sale at under £100. He is a lovely runner and a great addition. I wonder when I will get my hands on a Percy, Thomas, Gordon and others?

Finally we have a class 42 warship. This was a disappointment as it was DOA. It's lights worked but there was nothing going to the motor. When I took the body off the motor worked put the body back on and nothing from the motor. Because of the fault it is going back, hopefully I will get a replacement in a few days.

Shame about the Warship as for such a relatively old loco they're usually fine runners and have directional lighting :(

I managed to nab a brace of Poole GF Southern green Mk1s from that well known auction site. A little fettling/reseating of axles and they run quite well.

Yes, I have a rake of the old Poole ones which I'm quite fond of.

I have a rake of seven old Poole Chocolate and Cream Mk1s including a buffet, very fond of them too, they date from my much younger modelling days in the mid-80s, I could never sell them even though they look dated next to the modern Farish offerings.

Agree entirely. I got mine around that time too, and as you say, dated, but I reckon they look fine behind a loco, on the move.

Re: GF Poole coaches: Me too!
I have a SR green rake of 4, a GWR Choc/Cream rake of 5, and BR maroon rake of 4 just purchased from Zetland Model Railways for a good £ compared to fleabay prices. All run really well and look the part at normal layout viewing distance.
Finally, after waiting over 55 years I am building a permanent layout in a purpose built shed!

Of my 190 coaches only 7 are Poole era and mainly full brakes of various livery
