Had an email from Dapol with their latest specials to club members.

Good selection of Locos, Diesels and wagons and some Maunsell coaches, most of them are areound 50% off RRP.

I may have fallen fowl of being bored, getting the email and having the debit card on the desk...  :worried:

Not necessarily a "good" selection. Just mostly those locos that I have bought already or are wrong era.

I did go for Forthampton Grange in BR Green Early Crest for £50. A smidge better than the £140 RRP price tag. Might get renamed/late crest some day, as some Granges retained the smaller tenders.
Yes it has the poor design of pickups as fitted to the smaller Manor tender but who knows, maybe this one will work better then the last three I returned?
Or for £50 I may just keep it.

I also got their OO scale GREGORY wagon, for obvious reasons :)

Was tempted by an 08 in O gauge for £145, but its the wrong scale, I have nothing to go with it and I cant collect in three scales. Two is bad enough!

I did get the Grange, and guess what. It works! That will be the third Grange I bought with the 3500 gal Churchward tender before it worked properly.
Dapol boobed with this model, as Forthampton Grange never did wear BR Green early crest, so its going to be renamed and a late crest added.

In BR days, most had Collett 3500 or 4000 gal tenders (like the Dapol Hall).
The only ones I have found pictures of with Churchward 3500 gal tenders in BR late crest green are:
6838 Goodmore Grange - A Llanelly loco
6849 Walton Grange - a Didcot/Oxford loco in my era
6861 Crynant Grange - a Tyseley loco

Of those, Walton Grange seems to stand the better chance of getting down to my modelled area which is around the Southampton/Eastleigh area, either from Reading, Newbury, or Salisbury routes.

Happy days!
Bob
