Is it me, or has the Quick reply box disappeared from the end of each topic?
Just seems to be a Reply button ???
Ed
Well, I'm reading your post and there's definitely no 'Quick Reply' option ???
I've noticed this. Press user actions and the button. I press more and modify. I'm with you Ed and mick
Yup missing for me too, however is it a big deal? I prefer to use Reply as then the options to add images works :)
Dunno, I find it irritating, have to click on the "user actions" drop down to get the reply button. 99% of the time I'm not posting images, so I'm happy to use quick reply. I know Tank was talking about trying to remove the "use reply to post images" text, maybe it's related to that.
agree, never saw the point of it. all we needed was reply, you could add pics if needed without having yet another step.
But now you have to click on Reply instead of just typing a reply, which if I'm not mistaken is an extra step ???
Ed
Clicking one button to get a fully working reply window with image support etc. isn't a great hardship though, is it?
No, not at all, but why has it changed :( :confused1:

Almost certain to quell the constant nagging from those who didn't understand the difference in functionality between "reply" and "quick reply" (and ignored when it was explained to them...) that "quick reply" didn't do what they wanted it to... ::)
Why can't we just have the reply box below the last post? I've never used a forum where you have to look for the reply box!
The quick edit button is not working either, noticed that yesterday.

Not sure what 'looking for' actually means. Shirley you just click on 'Reply' :confused1: :confused1:

I must say that personally I'm finding that not having a reply window after the last post is a royal PITA.

It's not there on mobile. This is all you get. You have to click "user actions" and then reply from there. Didn't occur to me to look there. At first I thought the thread I was reading had been locked
Seems like the desktop experience is better.

I noticed that yesterday too - but I wasn't sure if there was a time out on it which had been exceeded.
Yes, the mobile is doing funny things, and that's where I am most of the tme.
who am i replying to ?
Hello all,
I asked NGF Tech to get rid of the Quick Reply box and revert back to how the forum used to be.
I had lots of members complaining that options are missing in the Quick Reply (they were supposed to be watered down), and I also didn't like the text telling members to go to the main Reply button to insert photos. Lots of people didn't understand that, and it looked terrible with the writing appearing there.
So, this is how it is. Back to how it was. :) Apologies to those who don't like it, but it's just reverted back to how it used to be before the upgrade some months back.

If you want to be clear that you're replying to a particular member/post rather than a general reply, then that's what the "Quote" button is for.

But there always used to be somewhere to type your reply below the last post. I'm not fussed about quick reply/full reply, but it was always there. Obviously we'll get used to it, but it will definitely confuse people as it is.
There really wasn't. :)
Thing about not having quick reply means you have to get in to a whole new window just to reply and it is slightly discouraging in terms wanting to just post a simple message and already have the messages you are replying to right there already with out a whole new window coming up then changing where the messages are on the screen.
Ill get used to it though.

Some weeks on, I've just had a minor epiphany on this. I always used to browse the forum on desktop regardless of device. Now it won't return the desktop version on mobile, hence my having not realised the experience used to been the same on mobile!
I'm not sure what is happening here. Most of my forum stuff is done on my mobile phone, and I always use the desktop version of the forum.
I never log out, and when I click on the Chrome icon on the phone, the desktop version comes up straight away.
But it's not the desktop version. The old forum had a very different mobile version, but had a button at the bottom to use the desktop site, or (on iOS, no idea on Android) you could request the desktop site, and it was indistinguishable from the site as viewed on a computer. Hence the reply button being more accessible.
This new forum is responsive - it's close to being the desktop version, but it isn't quite the same - differences like the reply button being behind the "user actions" button for example.
