I like the "any or multiple scales".  So not just for N gaugers, then.

I would guess that one of their warehouse staff has found that they don't fit...

Why would Hattons be offering a pair of shoes for sale in their secondhand section??

Would make more sense if they were selling TWO pairs . . . .

. . . . they'd be ideal for the "four foot" then :D

What a great idea! Trade in SWMBO's footwear for your required model railway item :D
(Please don't try this at home as death could be the result)

I think we'd lose parts of our anatomies if we could trade in selections of our partner's shoe collections, however oversized those collections may be...

...on the brightside, if Hattons started selling Manolo Blahniks, Jimmy Choos and Louboutins at box shifter prices, we may be able to convince our better halves to come with us train shopping more often

Mrs: "you're spending WHAT on that toy train??!!"

Mr: "I wasn't going to say owt but you're about to spend £300 on those heels so I thought that'd make us about even..."

Think you might have hit the nail on the head using Occam's razor there pal. What baffles me is the unlikelyhood of someone looking for this pair of shoes on a toy train website though!

Maybe it's a sign Hattons is operating on a shoestring budget?

Possibly they were work-issue footwear, but the previous wearer was given the boot?

The clue is written in the ad.   They are train-ers
