Title: N'spirations5
Post by: H on August 18, 2011, 02:04:44 PM
A new issue of N'spirations is now available. It is an A5 all colour magazine exclusively about British 1:148 N gauge. Issue #5 is the latest copy and has just been published. Copies can be obtained;

* Through ebay with payment by Paypal (occassionally when batches are listed)

* By mail order with a cheque for £3 (includes P&P).

* Directly from a number of specialist traders/dealers including the N Gauge Society. Please note that these will probably not be available from the traders until at The International N Gauge Show (10/11th September at Leamington). The plan was to launch N'spirations5 at TINGS so the bulk will be available thjere from the usual traders.

Hi griffo49,

The magazines sell  quickly  but  i  would  think it's possible H  will  list  some more  on  ebay  here is the link  to the ones  H put on today

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120765466260&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

if you save him as a seller  &   have  mail set  for any  future  listing from him  you will  know  immediatley  they appear.

Alternativley  H will   let  us know of  more on ebay  or you  could message him  for a copy.

I'll list more batches on ebay at a later date. I like to have a break from all the envelope writing, sealing, stamping and posting, and besides I need to go and buy some more envelopes. And I prefer orders by cheques as the bank doesn't charge to process a cheque where as Paypal is taking what is equivalent to 10% of such small value transactions in charges.

Also there should be plenty available at TINGS and you'll only pay £2 over the counter for a copy.

Have you looked at a Paypal Micropayments account H? https://www.paypal-business.co.uk/take-micropayments-with-paypal/

Thanks for that. It looks like it's a little saving;

5% and 5p on £3.30 = £0.215 (6.5%)
whereas
3.4% and 20p on £3.30 = £0.3122 (9.46%)

although it's still a lot more than the £0.00 a bank charges to pay in a cheque. And the snag is it doesn't explain whether that applies to outgoing payments as well as incoming payments (which would then penalise me using Paypal to make high value purchases of unrelated goods). It says it's for all transactions and states "rate applies to all payments going through the account" but thats not very clear.

Later update; I've managed to get an email reply from paypal and apparently it only applies to incoming payments - so I've signed up. Thanks for the pointer.

H.

You can have different buying and selling accounts. As far as I remember you just need to register with a different user name and email address.

You  could    put   H   in your  favorite sellers   from this link
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120765466260?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2648
when   a new batch  on  ebay is listed  you will  get a mail from them  if you have it  set for it ,  you have to be quick  though a batch  can sell in a day.

Yep, every day a batch sells out and every day (so far) I've listed a new batch. And, of course, alternatively people can still mail order by sending a cheque - that saves bothering with ordering on ebay and using paypal.

I actually ordered the recent copy recently, a first for me as my interest in British railways is negligible, and it arrived today.

It appears to be a good quality magazine, and if H has no objections, once I have had time to go through it, I will give some honest feedback.  I noted, briefly, a section at the rear about getting started, so I will look at the mag as a whole from the perspective of someone who is new to British N Gauge, which to be honest, is true  ;D and is looking for some guidance.  I'm not expecting it to be Model Rail magazine, or whichever takes your fancy, but from his posts on here, H is apparently an intelligent person with a good knowledge of our hobby, so I am looking forward to a good read  :thumbsup:
