The Southern is the least well catered for by RTR or kits, so often some hacking or scratching is required, the following gives a few ideas.
Southern  1930s, only two 4-6-0 kits, (BHE N15, Langley S15 both being Urie versions) no RTR; SR had 5 classes of 4-6-0, two of those classes (N15 and S15) had 2 types of cab roof and 6 wheel or  2 types of 8 wheel tenders "luckily" the tenders of the 2 kits are the 2 types of 8 wheelers, so "mix'n match"; cab roofs are fairly easy to hack. The H15 class differed from the N15 & S15 mainly in driving wheel diameter so find  a suitable chassis.
The other 4-6-0 I've managed to produce is the Nelson, it involves hacking a Peco Jubilee or Farish Scot, firebox needs reshaping and 8 wheel tender, for 1930s the BHE N15 tender will suit, from about 1938/9 a high sided tender has to be built, one of the class had a 6 wheel tender, 862 had a Kylchap double chimney, 1940s on most had a LeMaitre chimney.
The Union Mills T9 represents the "300 series" with 6 wheel tender, wide cab and wide splashers, the remainder of the class had a narrower cab and splashers and 8 wheel "watercart" tender which is the same as the Langley S15 kit, apart from filing or milling a few thou off the cab sides and splashers, it is also necessary to add pick ups on the loco for power to the tender. Union Mills also do the class 0395 and 700 o-6-0s
As for the RTR offerings from Dapol and Farish, Dapol have the Schools, M7,  N class mogul
and Terrier - Farish currently zilch
I have scratch built an Adams "Jubilee" A12 class 0-4-2 and a Drummond K10 4-4-0
A few examples

You are also forgetting the C by Farish and Schools + Q1 by Dapol. Lots of 3D printed locos are now available for N too - P/W/Q/King Arthur/Lord Nelson for starters. The days of having to use crude fishing weight bodies and foreign chassis are long gone!

Mike did mention the Dapol 'Schools' and the Q1 was introduced in 1942 so is not pre WW2 as per the thread title

I'll admit to missing the C class, I concentrate on the western division/ex LSWR,  mainly Dorset and Hampshire.
I didn't mention the Q1 as that came in the 1940s as did the spam cans, the Dapol Schools is mentioned in the same sentence as the incorrect origin of the N mogul.
