A couple of interesting items appeared.
A chap had one of the commemorative plaques from the loco side about the setting of the steam speed record by Mallard. It would seem the loco went into Doncaster Works for overhaul and both plaques vanished. This chap's father, who worked in the works, was tasked to make 3 plaques (evidently they always made 3 in case one turned out wrongly). Two were fitted to the loco and the 3rd was eventually sold to the chap's father for £4-00 + £0-60 VAT in the 1980s. He had the invoice from BR stating 'sale of scrap plaque'.
The expert valued it at £5000.

There was a lady who was the daughter of one of the 617 Squadron 'Dambusters' and she had his logbook and a couple of medals. He flew on the Dambuster raid against the Sorpe dam but, while flying across the channel, he flew so low the bomb was ripped out of the bomb bay and he had to return to base. He was later awarded the DFC for his part in a raid on Dortmund, was hot down and after 5 months ended up in Stalag Luft III.
The expert had no hesitation in valuing the collection at £20,000.

iPlayer will no doubt have the programme if you missed it.
