General Discussion / Re: what are you listening to ...Last post by Bealman - December 06, 2024, 06:45:48 AMWizard turned up at my student's union one night out of the blue (they were probably advertised but at the time I wouldn't have given a stuff). The price they were asking to get in was ridiculous, so I climbed up the drain pipe and got in through the toilet window. And they weren't worth even that, I remember thinking at the time Amazing I could think at all on a gutful of Newcastle Exhibition #53
General Discussion / How good are my old ears ?Last post by BobB - December 06, 2024, 06:39:16 AMIn readiness for a new mini Hi-Fi I have taken advantage of "black Friday" discounts to buy headphones, Sony WH-CH720N. After about ten hours of use I used my iPad mini 6 to compare their frequency response with an old pair of Senneiser HD458BT headphones. It came as a surprise that there was little or no difference. Then comparing the iPad speakers I got almost exactly the same. Results were :
Sony 20 Hz / 9.0 kHz Sennheiser 23 Hz / 8.8 kHz iPad 20 Hz / 8.9 kHz So, is it YouTube or the iPad that is limiting the audible frequency range? What do the experts think please. #54
General Discussion / Re: what are you listening to ...Last post by LASteve - December 06, 2024, 03:36:41 AMI left the Youtube music channel running in the other room and I guess it's clicked into a 70's Glam Rock playlist. In the last few minutes:
T-Rex - Jeepster Alice Cooper - School's Out Slade - Mama Weer All Crazee Now Suzi Quattro - Devilgate Drive Wizzard - See My Baby Jive I know all the words! I even know how to spell the Slade songs #55
General Discussion / Re: Advent Calendar 2024 - Chr...Last post by LASteve - December 06, 2024, 03:24:45 AMA big bag of bits on Day 5, and now we're looking at a whole wagon (Caboose)? Clerestory windows and all. I'd guess there's maybe 500 pieces of Lego in this one alone.
Tomorrow is a whole new sub-project. Lessons learned by the Project Manager: 1. If you drop a piece it either rockets across the room or bounces under the couch, it never lands gently on the table in front of you. 2. Sometimes you need a pair of pliers to gently squeeze things together, the finger-squeeze doesn't cut it. 3. A cocktail helps. A lot. Onward! #56

Forum Ideas and Problems. / Re: Anyone Else Having This Pr...Last post by Bealman - December 06, 2024, 12:08:08 AMMost strange. I'm no expert (far from it), but it looks to me that the problem seems to be at your end, either software or even hardware.
In other words, I haven't a clue, but it must be annoying for you. #59

Well, I spoke too soon. More rainbow examples appeared today. These occurred when I opened the post for the first time. When I went back into the posts later in the day, the photos were all normal. Screen shots below. (Note: When I look at the photos that are rainbow style in posts, the text is normal. However, in the screen shots below, some of the text appears pixelated - this must have been caused by my process of posting these screenshots). Ian #60
General Discussion / Re: My local bus stopLast post by Bealman - December 05, 2024, 11:29:00 PMIn all fairness, Colin, it was bin night on Wednesday and I'd only just brought ours in before I walked to the bus stop. So I'll let them off this time. They've been brought in, I noticed this morning.
