Long overdue, Stu :D
Now then - steam specials are usually kept very clean so a simple yes/no answer please - will you be keeping the spray gun away from them? :hmmm:

Cheers! Well yeah I will have to keep them fairly clean for steam specials I think. I'll weather the underframes of the coaches & hope to add a bit of detailing to the steamers, loco crews etc  :hmmm:

cheers, Stu.

Any chance you can measure the length of the full rakes?

Nice, I have always liked the blue era, just a shame all the kettles had gone by then!

Hi Simon,

Mine are only in 6 car formations at the moment, but will go to 7. The coaches have the NEM couplings which brings the coaches in tighter together, resulting in:

HST+6     94cm
HST+7     109.5cm
HST+8     125cm

Cheers,

Jimmy

That sure is a mean looking lineup you have there!

Britannia'  sister arrived today....

Remember seeing "Olly" regularly pounding up the bank between Brentwood and Shenfield when I lived there! The "Brits "were lovely locos and your model captures them beautifully. I have always felt, though, that BR missed a trick sending "Flying Dutchman" to the Western, she would have been a natural for the "Hook Continental".

The "green" look of british steam has always intrigued me...especially for the big pacifics  like the Brits....best livery in the world IMHO...( for this my italian N collegues hate me.. :D)

Yes I wonder why our continental friends were so reluctant to paint steam engines anything other than black.

Very nice! Looks like you've been lucky with the Executive-liveried power cars, no smudging! Reminds me I still need to send mine back to Dapol since none of the shops I've contacted seem to be have any un-smudged ones left...

Hi JB,

Yes I was a little worried before I received the second set about the potential dodgy paint job, but it turned out all good in the end!

Cheers,

From the recent random Ebay haul, now I have time to sort through it, this Poole-era Class 47 in pretty good condition:

Alas the registration card appears to be for the model which previously occupied the box (some kind of kettle) so I'm not sure when it was made; if anyone has an idea, I'd be interested to know. It does have brass gears, and to my surprise forward lighting. It runs pretty well, albeit (unsurprisingly) a little noisily. Mechanically and aesthetically it's several generations behind the current 47 offerings, but on the whole I quite like it.
