Title: Layout in a case - Help Needed Please
Post by: port perran on January 17, 2018, 02:56:54 PM
I'm seriously considering building a layout in a case.
However, after spending most of today wandering around second hand stores , music stores and looking on line, I'm finding it impossible to source a suitable case.
I was thinking guitar or keyboard case but have drawn a blank.(all too narrow).
Ideally, I would like to be able to ceeate a roundy roundy layout. To do this I really need a width of 50cm and I'd like a length of  100cm min or ideally 120cm.
I don't want to spend a fortune on something I'm not going to use for its intended purpose.
Does anyone know of a source of such a case that I can purchase?

I would look for a second hand flight case on ebay such as this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Large-flightcase-with-handles-good-for-keyboards-stands-cables-etc/322991774841?hash=item4b33cf5c79:g:N-QAAOSwoddaVhhi (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Large-flightcase-with-handles-good-for-keyboards-stands-cables-etc/322991774841?hash=item4b33cf5c79:g:N-QAAOSwoddaVhhi)
1.4m by 0.61m in this case but there are loads out there.

Thank you.
That certainly has potential. I shall keep an eye on that for a couple of days .

For Left Luggage I managed to source an old "demob" style suitcase from eBay for £20. A flight case would certainly be more practical for a larger layout if you can source a relatively cheap one (another option is to buy the strapping/hinges for one and build a flight case)

Hi Martin,

That case certainly seems to be a good one, especially as the seller has put no reserve on it

It says one catch is broken, that could easily be fixed with a replacement from someone like ....

Will look forward to your build  :D :D :D

All the best
Kevin.

PS. Loved your last video relaxing watching the trains run

:beers:

Many thanks to cutting42 for pointing me in the direction of a flight case.
It's now on its way and a new layout in a case will be keeping me busy in a week or so.
