I've used Compass Rail for many tours and they're very good.
What have NR done to mess up the tour?

Track works on the Cumbrian coast line, apparently.  :'(

It appears that they don't know for sure about the route until one week before departure.

Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear that. I was looking on a railtour site http://www.onthemain.co.uk/locomotives/6233-duchess-of-sutherland the other day and found that the Duchess of Sutherland is running on that date, I'll have to ring them to find out if it's still going through Wilmslow as I want to photograph it.

I think that'll be safe. It's the coastal route that's unavailable.
