N gauge rivets...

I've been scouring the forum trying to find a particular thread.

A little while back there was a thread on here about the SR Leader project. Someone built a N gauge version, it was quite memorable as it was festooned with a myriad of 'decorative' rivets which had been applied like decals and looked most effective.

I can not find this thread anywhere. I'd like to source some of the above mentioned rivets for a project of mine.

If anyone can point me to the relevant thread that'd be great, if anyone can point me to the supplier of the rivets then even better.

I wanted the thread to see if there was any tips on applying them.

I'm glad you brought this up @emjaybee I am looking to detail some bits and pieces and these rivets hopefully will be perfect.

I'm hoping they are waterslide and you just cut to length and apply. Do they have profile? I guess so as Steve makes a point of saying they can be painted any colour.

Any information by users would be fantastic

Another option for rivet transfers is Archer Transfers. Haven't used them, just aware of them.

If you literally just put leader rivets site:ngaugeforum.co.uk it's the top entry for me (although the wrong page). You can put the site:ngaugeforum.co.uk first if you want, doesn't matter. Works for any site with decent Google indexing (the vast majority).

Indeed they are waterslide, with profile, and can be cut to desired length. I've just updated the product description to make it explicitly clear. (Often when you're the creator of a product there's a good risk that you overlook specifying something completely obvious!)

I would be keen to expand on the range, and although there was a lot of enthusiasm when the topic first got mentioned elsewhere albeit in another scale, there was virtually radio silence when I asked folks what other diameters / spacings they would like. Unfortunately I'm not well up on steel fabrication so when it comes to the specifics I need to be very explicitly guided by what others know.

    2mm scale 1⅛" diam rivets (~0.2mm) with 3" (~0.5mm) spacing between rivet centres, so ¾" (~0.3mm) gap between the rivets themselves. These are raised with the correct profile/relief, just like the real things.
    1744mm total length.
    Individual horizontal strips on clear carrier film.
    Rivets are white in colour, allowing the sheet to be coloured/sprayed to suit any job.
    These are waterslide transfers and the strips can be cut to the desired length.

It's the top result when you search for "rivets", how easy to navigate do you want!? The proprietor is the post before you if you want to feed back. I've never had a problem, and really rate Steve's products.

I'm all ears if you'd care to elaborate on how the site may be better structured whilst keeping in line with conventional ergonomics (and then I'd need to find the time to code it and put any new product development briefly on hold). The catalog is that extensive now that offering to browse by choice of era, scale, livery, vehicle type and now "theme" seemed to be the route which offered the best spread for everybody, based on preferred route of navigation.

Of course, somebody could always simply enter a search term such as "rivets" into the Search box, which instantly pulls up related items.
