Hello all,
We'll be upgrading the forum in the next couple of days to the latest version. I've been creating a backup of the forum since last night and have currently downloaded 33Gb of files..... :o
We'll keep you informed of when the upgrade will happen.
Thanks,
Chris/Tank.
Is it possible to improve it?
:laugh2:
What do you mean?

I mean, it's near perfect now...
... rather than "I'm suggesting an improvement"
Sorry for the confusion!
;D
I see now, I read that in the wrong context! Thanks! ;D
Please dont make it complicated I would be lost without the Forum .
Whenever Facebook or things like it are upgraded I allways have a job to fathom them out and it takes meages to remember how they work.

Could uploading of photos be made easier for dummies like me ? :dunce:
The forum won't visibly change, don't worry. Just security upgrades. I like to keep this forum up to date so it's not vulnerable to attack.
Broadsword - I don't know how it could be easier? What do you suggest?
As I'm a bit thick tech wise , something like adding an image to an email,
though perhaps the forum setup isn't suitable for this.
cheers
I'm sure that you're not!
It's not possible to do that. You'd have to save your photo's to your device, then upload.
Will have another bash, when I have an image
worth posting, eg Transpennine train in Glasgow
Central yesterday (no camera with me ! )

That
is one image that you will not be able to show! :). What was a Transpennine train doing in Glasgow ???
Interesting, especially as my browser has been telling me for the last 2 days the forum is not secure as far as passwords etc go. Then again, nobody else likes the browser I use.

Turns out there's a fairly regular service Manchester-Glasgow, of which I wasn't
aware. The train was parked at platform 12 at Central, my train was at 13, probably
it uses other platforms which are not visible from my usual platforms 13-15.

The website doesn't use https which is a problem when people are logging in as it means the passwords are much easier to see than if it was using a secure connection. As long as your password is unique to the forum though, there isn't much [malicious] people can do with it!

I've just logged in for the first time for a few days and got the same message as NN. Looks like I'm going to have to change my password. Oh....bother.... Another one to remember. >:( >:(
Chris
The new version of the forum will help us achieve https. However, the forum is perfectly safe as it is.

Yeah, I didn't intend to imply that the forum was insecure, so apologies if anyone understood that from what I wrote.
I was talking more about the connection between you and the forum, for example. using a public, unsecured wifi. That said, HTTPS would secure that connection for the website that uses HTTPS too, so I for one am glad there is that feature on the horizon! thanks Tank et al!
All sounds good, I like the idea of https, especially in today's climate of internet threat.
