Stair lifts

Are they becoming a modellers friend? 
This last bout of illness has forced us to look into getting a stair lift.
On Wednesday evening an agent arrived to survey the stairway and laughed as he got to the top step. The railway room door was open and he spotted my layout.
He explained that I wasthe second call that day where he had spotted a layout.
Now.............does one have to have a layout to get a stair lift or are they an optional extra ?
Oh yeah and the cost of them seems to be      'think of a figure and trebble it'

Put a shunting plank on it that aligns with layouts top and bottom

You could get some Stanier coaches to go with the Stannah stairlift, assuming that's the
manufacturer. (Only one I know)

We had a Brooks stair lift fitted a few months ago because my wife can no longer manage the stairs.
It's very handy for carrying heavy items up or down stairs as well.

You could get some Stanier coaches to go with the Stannah stairlift, assuming that's the
manufacturer. (Only one I know) 

They advertise so much that their prices are (I think) inflated. I did look at their publicity and placed them at the bottom of my list.
Thats purely my view of the situation.......I could be wrong

Because my stairs have 2 curves to negotiate anything will have to new and be tailor made  :'(

Good idea but the bedrooms/bathrooms etc. are all upstairs

Update
The thang will be installed on 22-03-12 (2 week from today).
Now all I need to do is find the pennies to pay for it  :'(

Recommend that you do this. Get them to visit to see how you struggle with the stairs.

My 90 YO dad needed one a couple of years back and, after a while, he got a 100% grant from the local Social Security office.
