It was reported to me by Lawrence that it wasn't working this morning (GMT!).  Otherwise it's up to speed this end for me.

I can only guess the forum was down because of the Host, as we weren't doing any maintenance.

Better slow than down
There is nothing on the hosts Server Status page about any downtime

The issue I experienced was unable to connect to database, suggesting overload

Its been very slow here on and off usually waiting on a response from

www.ngaugeforum.co.uk.nyud.net (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk.nyud.net)

which seems to be where some bits like the style sheets come from

On the bright side I've laid an awful lot of track as a result 8)

Rather strange to have some of the website files sourced externally, visitors may have to wait while these files load or they may load first, resulting in the page jumping around as the style sheets are applied

the style sheet is loading from the same url as the forum

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/Themes/default/css/index.css?fin20" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/Themes/default/scripts/script.js?fin20"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/Themes/default/scripts/theme.js?fin20"></script>

there is no other domain being used for the css.
