As the Dapol ones seem to be fetching silly money on ebay apparently very "rare" i may consider joining the society to buy some.

Just had a look at the list on the NGS website, they have some weird and wonderful kits with strange animal names but can't see Dogfish, unless they're known by another name?  ;)

Not to my knowledge although I may be wrong?

Dapol do produce a rtr dogfish wagon in different liveries and fully weathered rusted versions, some liveries such as engineers Dutch livery are difficult to find though.

I would wait and see the next catalogue due April, they generally release some each year, either that or contact them direct and ask if they intend doing more.

I bought Richard's last 19 weathered versions a while back, and was disappointed to see no more were planned ;D :(

That was the hopper, more were planned, but after talks with Dapol I did not proceed. Sorry but watch for the new catalogue and if not covered I may do a run of HTV or HOP in bauxite again.

Sorry Richard - you are quite correct. I was confusing my hoppers with Dogfish(es) (Dogfish plural???)

red_death

No the NGS does not do a Dogfish.

I just googled Dapol dogfish and it threw up this: http://www.modelmasters.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Wagons_450.html (bottom of page and next page)

You may do better by picking up a copy of your favourite model railway magazine and phoning some of the smaller shops that advertise in them. These places with no/minimal online presence often have items long after the more accessible shops have sold out.

For the Stephen Harris kits you do need additional parts which are only available from the 2MM Asscoiation admitedly. The BH kit uses a PECO 15ft chassis but needs modification.
Personally I'd go with the Stephen Harris kit, they look more accurate than the Dapol  R-T-R ones, although the BH kit does build into a good model with care and time - and saves having to join the 2MM Association (if you don't want to).

No thanks i'll leave it to those with far to much money i'll have a think on kit building them that could keep me occupied on the long summer evenings

I know this is resurrecting an ancient thread... but Hattons has a bunch of Dapol Dogfish in their pre-owned section, £7 a piece. Don't often see these for sale, and as others have said before, eBay prices are often silly.

I've already bought a couple to bolster my existing rake, but thought I'd let folks know if they're still interested in these.
