Picked these up second hand at Chester Model Centre at the weekend. Been trying to get a couple for ages, just kept missing out on that auction site thingy.

Would've preferred them without the ballast load but couldn't resist them at the price :)

Just received my Farish WD Austerity weathered version.
My God... I've never seen so much oil. Cleaned the oil off the body and the underside of the loco and tender chassis. Put the loco on my wheel cleaner gizzmo and cleaned off most of the oil off the wheel sets. The cleaning strips were 'BLACK' and I mean 'BLACK...' after 30 secs. Then I did it all again - more BLACK but not so much!! Ran loco on test track and do you know - ran like a dream - I thought I was dreaming!!
I think I'll run it in for 15 mins at a time - clean the test track and clean the wheels. Don't feel inclined to strip a brand new loco down to clean out all the oil. If it fails or faulters due to over oiling I'll send it back.
BUT!! I have to say it runs like a dream.... at the moment. So quiet and amazing slow running.
Gonna run it in over the next couple of days and hopefully all of the crap will get blown out.
Beautiful model though..
:D :beers:
Size matters - especially if you don't have a lot of space - and N gauge is the answer!

I bought mine when they first hit the shops, Bob, and it's a super runner. Excuse the poor vid :-[........

Nice..
I think mine will be fine if I keep on top of the oil cleaning.

Humbrol no 90 is a perfect match for the lining (I've done on a Farish 25 before), so with a fine brush and steady hand you should be able to sort out.

The lining on some recent Farish models does seem.....fragile...  :hmmm:

Hi, I think it looks good like that. Does it run well if so that what matters.

If that doesn't inspire a few early 70s layouts, nothing will.  Was green livery with double arrows just a Stratford thing or did other MPDs do it as well?

Bought a 4MT tank from a chap off FB. Arrived yesterday - really nice runner. Just needs some lamps or disks, lamp irons, front coupling and a bit of weathering now.

That's a particularly nice looking layout you have there.
