Title: Email notifications have dried up
Post by: Karhedron on November 18, 2016, 04:14:35 PM
Hello. I seem to have stopped receiving email notifications today.

I haven't changed my account settings and according to those, I should still receive notifications when someone updates a topic I have posted to. Last one I received was yesterday.

Okay, own up! Who sent Karhedron to Coventry?  :confused2:

:D

Edit - posted as a tester to see if notification sent to OP. PM sent to OP also.

Patient - "Doctor. Doctor. Everyone is ignoring me!"
Doctor - "Next"

I was actually going to be a doctor,  but I didn't have the patience  :D

I can't see any problems from our end, although I did have a bounced email from your address on Wednesday I think.

My turn to lose notifications. :(

I noticed a few days ago that emails seemed to have stopped. Since then I have checked account settings; cleared out all previous notification threads; resaved notifications request; asked to be notified on a few threads and boards; and have posted on new and existing threads. At each stage - and not necessarily in the order stated - I have left a time interval to see if a notification comes through. None have.

I did note that at the start of this checking, my account setting screen had a message at the bottom about notifications that seemed to be at odds with the settings. It's gone now, so I don't recall exactly what it said, but it was something about no notifications set up.

Still receiving all other expected emails from other sources to my email account.

I'm confused now, so thought it was time to post this.

Thanks.

I assume you've checked the spam folder?

Yes,  nothing NGF there.  Just been into my email account and rechecked all settings. AOK.

Same problem here. No notifications for a couple of days. I haven't changed anything and everything seems set up ok as far as I can tell.
:beers:

Thanks, glad to know I'm not alone and going mad. :)

I too have the same problem that started a couple of days ago. The alert settings seem to be fine and there is nothing to do with the NGF in my spam.

I'm still waiting for the problem to just go away as it seems to have done for others in the past.

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Notification Zone.

Now that brings back a few happy memories of the twiglet zone...

Is that the same mysterious dimension that coupling springs disappear into? :D

As well as tiny bits for plastic kits made by Ratio!

But is there a super computer wizzo person trying to discover what the solution may be? The lack of Notifications I mean. The lost kit bits will almost certainly remain a mystery!

Definitely something is wrong as I didn't get an email regarding posts re Cheap Water Effects after I'd added a comment.

I did go and refresh my profile preferences in the hope that it may fix a flag or something that had dropped out.

Currently I'm having to scroll down the recent post to see if I've missed anything of interest.

Like you Dave I've tried everything, and judging by the number of us who have the same problem it is certainly an issue outside individual members control.

It will need an Administrator to sort it I believe, and I note that Tank and others have not been in the current/recent Users lists lately so I think we just have to wait until the weekend is over and they return from whatever hard-earned leave they are on.

Anyway, it's fun looking through the recent posts lists as I discover all sorts of interesting stuff I might otherwise miss.

Yes, I guess it's working now as I have just had 70 notifications in my email Inbox! :o

Seems every missed notification for the last few days all arrived at once at 14:25.

Think too I better limit my notification settings a bit after all my experimenting with my profile. :D

Genuine thanks @Tank (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=2)  for getting it all unknotted.

I've got the oppersite problem! I keep getting the same emails over and over again. Just had some come through that I had around noon repeated about every 2 hours since. I sent a PM around 4ish and its just emailed me again to say I've just sent it  ??? :confused2:

Thanks for untying 'the knot'. Fortunately it will be quiet at work in a bit so I will have a couple of hours to sort all the notifications out - didn't realise I was being notified about so many threads!   :)

I didn't know I had a problem until I got four e-mails this afternoon that had been sent up to 3 days ago. Then I came across this thread.

Oddities remain @Tank (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=2)  as I keep receiving oddments this evening - new topics in Layout Board that I turned off notifications too earlier today; PM notice from days ago; old posts I've already read; etc.

Just maybe taking time to settle down,.

The whole thing seems to be a backlog on the server.  It sure is confusing when you're told you have a PM and you don't!  ;D
