Title: class 73 chassis / body compatability
Post by: bluedepot on April 05, 2018, 08:03:51 PM
hi everyone

don't know if someone here tried it, but if you put an old version class 73/1 body on a newer style dcc ready class 73 chassis, will the lights work?

cheers

Annoyingly, no!  I swapped a couple of DCC ready chassis with someone and I didn't realise.

And again NO!

On a more polite note both chassis are different. The later body has a small pc board fitted with the pickups further to one end, unlike the early body which just has a resistor and the pickups fitted in the centre.

As I understand it the old bodies have springy pickups under the roof which contact the split chassis - what does the newer design have? Are the lighting/cab detail assemblies also different?

This is an old style bodyshell I think?

A pc board and smaller springy clips two thirds or more to one end.
