what a difference a day makes, yesterday hot, panting and thirst,

today, cool, wet and energetic....

HB that is.

so today's walk, and we saw a total of 1 dog and owner, one walker and one runner  :o

over to the fields, first field empty, off lead and racing around like an idiot

back on lead through the woods and the small part of second field, then third field empty, off lead an mega mouse hunting in hedges mixed with racing around like an idiot

no mice were harmed, might have been scared...

back on lead when we got near the hedge with sheep and lambs in the next field, then through to second field, empty, off lead and acting like idiot again...

back on lead to exit field and go over railway bridge, then into next set of fields.....

empty ... off lead and acting like an idiot

back onled to go through the gaps between each field, but all empty, five minutes rest at the water tower, the repeat back to the gate by the railway bridge, back on lead, wave to two trains with clap, then back to the first field, again empty, so off lead, but a more sedate progress from HB.

back on lead and home, towelled off, groomed and now resting under dining room table with a bone. :food:

all in all, a happy hairy beast  :smiley-laughing:

You really must stop racing around like an idiot once you're off the lead.
HB must be wondering what on earth has got into you :)

guest311

I will try to be better behaved when I am off the lead in future  :-[

guest311

oh, and before anyone says anything....

the trains don't have c**p

I mean, wave then clap when the driver toots

looks like I need to take more care with how I write things, maybe get HB to proofread  :-[

guest311

well, today was not so good ....

loads of walkers and dog walkers [on phone - no interest in what dog doing] so much of today's walk was on the lead.

did manage an off-lead session in two fields,

is that a mouse ??

no, just some  :censored: humans having a picnic

boss gets so upset when I go and look for sarnies, they are easier to catch than mice, and tastier  :food:

lots of dogs running around, so back on lead, just because I like to play with anyone.
their owners don't care, so why does mine  :hmmm:

anyway, finally back home and munchies time .......
kong filled with ..
apple..
chicken..
loaf dog food..
yum -yum

then dental chew, followed by hide chew, which needs much snarling / growling / etc before eaten.  :)

followed by a well earned rest under dining room table .. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Newportnobby

I'm starting to think HB is actually a radio controlled model going by the aerial I spy just above his tail :hmmm:
I'll not ask where you insert the batteries

guest311

bad enough getting him to take his monthly and 3 monthly tablets, just hoping he's got energizer batteries, cause it will be an absolute  :censored: when they need changing  :'(

guest311

for HB's fans, a couple of pics from today's adventures ......

and a few statistics .....
x9 fields patrolled
approx 20 attacks on mice
none successfull [what a surprise with his track record]
3 pints of water consumed [ well the boss has to do something to justify being taken along]
around 20 tasty bites and other 'training aids' consumed [again the boss has to do something to justify being taken along]

and about 50% of the time off lead

the down side was the 'boss' insisted on a grooming session when we got back, as if you could improve on perfection  :hmmm:

exmouthcraig

I bet you still wear your white hat  :D

Mice?? No wonder SWMBO is ill feeding her mice!!!
3 pints of water or that Scottish Spring Water you consume 3 pints of???

Your dangerous off the lead so I think you should limit yourself to less then 50%

HBs looking fantastic and presumably enjoying the cooler weather at the moment!!!

guest311

no white hat, I worked for a living  >:(

white hats were for snowdrops, stand around in pairs and look smart, only time you saw them on the airfield was in a landie  :D
mostly in the guardroom issueing keys or on the main gate.

we workers mostly wore berets or peaked caps with NO white cover.

if SWMBO had to survive on HB's hunting prowess she wouldn't be ill, she'd be starved  :uneasy:

and for your info, I [usually] behave myself off lead, well I'm getting too old to race around like an idiot  :smiley-laughing:

He is looking, IMHO pretty good, but needing at the moment plenty of grooming to get rid of the cast hair from his undercoat ....

which entails more tasty bites  :'(

guest311

a bit late with this, but due to

1. the ongoing battle with Paypal customer services [so called]
2. a special trip to the post office to post off some wagons to a forum member
3. and a twice weekly trip to Tesco's,

these are only being published now .....

never mind tiptoe through the tulips more of a blunder through the buttercups

then a check of the hedgerow for meecees

with nothing found, a few fields, and drinks, later he detected something

further investigation

but even a closer look, and a bit of excavation, produced no mouse

oh well, back home, at least there either my bowl or kong will be packed with yummies  :food:

guest311

think it's time I changed the photo on my profile, so this is the new one

can't remember how I did it last time, but I've got all day sat here at the computer to work it out  :'(

guest311

well, a long time it seems since an update....

so is he healthy
enjoying his daily walks
still hunting mice
catching mice
happy

the farmer has started cutting and baling the grass in the fields  >:(

so where he would spend ages scenting, tracking, pouncing, and missing yet again, in the long grass, the field is now flat :veryangry:

mind you, easier to find his tennis balls, and they bounce better now  :bounce:

like it used to be, ahhh memories

guest311

so, the previously tall grass, mouse rich, field as per previous photos, now looks like this

would you, if a mouse / vole etc, want to be here with HB hunting ?

guest311

another three fields have been cut, turned, baled and taken away over the last couple of days, so today HB was busy checking the newly cut fields, and trying to answer the question :

how much of a husky will fit into a rabbit hole?

turns out, not much  ;D

but not for lack of trying

and believe me, he is, very trying  :'(
