Hi
Just saw this offer for a BR-steamer and 4 wagons.

  • Is the combination something real or pure fantasy?
  • Is the livery of the loco ok?
  • what time (decades) can the loco be used for? The N-gauge db says "Class 2 MT 2-6-2T Tenderlok" and continental epoche III

thanks

Sounds like it is going to be an old Minitrix loco.
Some days its just not worth gnawing through the straps.

I have had them in the past and including doing conversion jobs with them.  They were always reliable and dependable runners and pulled a realistic typical load.  Crude by the standard of the newer Dapol version - Minitrix used an existing chassis from a German model.  But certainly worth a look if the price is fair.

Bealman

Yes, true. Crude by modern standards, but a nice little model. I've had one since 1990, and it still runs ok.

Cool. Thanks.
Hopefully noone else is interested...

Bodywork looks nice and crisp on that one.  As folk have said, a useful reliable model for its time (1970s/80s) but a bit crude looking compared to the Dapol model - but I'd rather the old Minitrix for reliability.

The motor can be a bit "graunchy" sounding, and spares aren't so easy to find now. The plastic crosshead can break if mishandled.

I have one where I've replaced the original motor with a flywheel-fitted motor

The wagons which are offered with it are old Lima box vans if they are indeed the correct wagons for the boxes, in which case cheap-and-cheerful and of dubious scale, not sure if those liveries are genuine.

Some of the first N gauge locos I bought when I started out in N all those years ago were the Minitrix Ivatt, their Britannia and their 9F. They are still going strongly but the Ivatt does like to growl a lot.
