Hi
Another helpline question I don't know the answer to. I'm not a MI modeller.

"Hi, I have one of your Railtrack PNA wagon kits but I am not sure what type of green it is that I should use to paint it. Phoenix paints do a specific colour but there is nowhere near me that stocks this paint. Could you advise on an suitable shade of green from Humbrol or Tamiya? Thanks, Nick"

So I'm looking for Humbrol or Tamiya equivalent brush paint for that green colour.  Also an equivalent aerosol if I can persuade my modeller to experiment with a can.

Thanks in advance
Bob

I think I left mine the plastic colour, painted the insides and weathered them after putting on the transfers.

A search on paint equivalents found this

I think the colour is Railtrack 'Clearing the Way' Green

There are a number of postal suppliers ( e.g. PEters spares)
Or pop down to Halfords and see if there is a match?

Hi there,

The kits are moulded in a green which is not far off the prototype colour,.

I suspect any colour badged Railtrack Green is more likely to be the bright lime green colour that they combined with blue in some vehicles.

The closest available railway colour to the dark green used on these and the JNAs by Railtrack is Freightliner green.

Cheers

Ben A.

I used a mix of a bright green (a Post grouping SR colour) and a pale green I had in stock, and added a touch of either white or black to vary the shade accordingly. Pictures online suggest the shade varied over time and after rust and weathering, plus chalked marks and crosses the colour is just a background palette for the rest!

I suggest that "Holly Green" is the colour you are looking for, currently used by Network Rail to paint metal bridges.

Railtrack probably bought enough to paint the Forth Rail Bridge twice! Now Network Rail will paint anything that doesn't move with it. :D
