Etched Pixels LMS CCT

Hi,

I'm having a minor crisis. I bought, some time back, an Etched Pixels LMS 6 wheel CCT van kit. The one with the etched brass overlays. I've built it, it looks great and has a lovely coat of crimson lake.

But, for the life of me, I can't find an example of LMS livery. Now EP has moved on, I no longer have access to the info. I know it was crimson lake, but...

If anyone has a copy of EP's info, or links, examples of LMS  livery ud be very grateful.

Very elegant.

Or is it one of the motor car vans? Can't find a 6 wheeler but the 4 wheel equivalents are very plain.

There's a photo in BR days in 'Historic carriage drawings' vol3.

This has a restriction panel adjacent to the LH door.

The text says that in LMS days, livery was 'crimson lake body, lined yellow.....the lines were both sides of the main outside members, but only on  the tops of the diagonals between the sides and end doors. Ends crimson, later black. Roof dark grey. Underframe black. After circa 1934, lining omitted. To carry 6 tons at extreme LHS; LMS on LH door; number on RH door'. Numbers/letters in passenger style.

I saw them but because they are in BR livery I didn't post the link.
The 4 wheeler is much more common. Hornby do one in OO.

Martyn, I have this book, and read the text, so I apologise for nit mentioning that.

I'll be perfectly honest, I don't understand where they mean the lining goes. I was hoping someone might be able to find a picture, even of a similar model in any scale, that illustrated what lining goes where.

As I read the lining notes, I interpret that as the lining goes on the front and sides of the main uprights, but only across the front (and not sides) of the diagonals.

Or take the easy way out; crimson body, black ends, unlined.........

I Think.

But I don't know.

Looking at the Vol 1 of the LMS Coaching stock By Essery/ Jenkinson there is a whole chapter on the LMS CCT vehicles, it seems when these vehicles were lined it was quite elaborate each panel, door and diagonal bracing was lined, however, reading the caption to the photos it seems that from 1932 onwards the lining of the CCT's was abandoned.

There is a photo of 5735(later 35346) ex works in 1932 in plain crimson, the LMS lettering was on the left hand door with the number on the right door in line with the joint between the 4th and 5th plank down, another photo taken in 1946 is again in plain crimson this time the LMS lettering is at the extreme right hand end of the van on the 3rd plank up while the number is at the opposite end.

Lettering and numbering can be found in the Fox transfers range.

Ian, got over to my parents today, Dad and I had a day out at Didcot! But, I do now have in my possession my fathers copy of previously mentioned honourable tome!

So, good news is, I now have full knowledge of necessary lining. Bad news is, I now have full knowledge of necessary lining.

Holy cow! It's a fippin' CCT for goodness sake, how much lining did they really need?
