No matter how many times I save the forum page, Safari wont show it.
It returns to the introduction page and not the full site..amyone else get this problem with safari on the ipad?.
Safari always pops up the page I was last on, but sometimes uses the mobile version and logs me out. I have to select "go to the full site" button and log back in. It doesn't always do it, it depends on what other apps I have been using.
Safari is a bit of a pain Malc since the updates :censored:..but I've found Puffin browser which will act a bit better..although you still have to press n gauge at the top..it doesn't put you right back at the beginning.
I will look it up. Thanks. I have Firefox, but it is just easier to find Safari.

That should do it.
goes straight back to the introduction unless you don't clear history.if you clear history, which unfortunately you have to do to make the damn safari work properly sometimes,it loses it all and takes you back to introductions.
you also cannot put a picture in here either, it won't copy and paste like a pc anymore since the updates.attachments here brings nothing up only "notify me " etc, and smileys will end up anywhere in the writing of the post.
Like Malc, I'm running safari on an iPad and also suffer the occasional lapse to the "phone" version instead of the full version I want.
But recently it keeps telling me I've got a new personal message, when in fact it's an old one, or is that a problem with the Forum rather than Safari I wonder?

Sorry guys I can't help. I use a Windows Laptop, PC, and Safari on my iPhone 6, which works perfectly. :-\
I've no idea what my Samsung Tab3 is running, but I just click on the blue globe labeled "Internet " on the startup screen, and up comes the NGF no probs. :hmmm:
try Chrome Browser - Safari is a bit unpredictable sometinmes - although it works for me on an Ipad Mini.
Also using an iPad mini and not having any problem with safari. Occasionally I get the mobile version but just scroll down to the bottom and select (prod!) Go to full site.
Not sure why you need to clear history? Does this clear cookies so when you return to the site, you're coming back without any preferences being stored.
C.
unfortunately that's what safari has been like since the last two updates.
it won't search or load properly until I do this and yes I think it does clear the cookies and some passwords which it shouldn't. :confused2:
My iPad is fully updated, but has only once sent me to the mobile site using safari. Otherwise I'm always able to access the full website. Perhaps it's because I just stay logged in on the full website all the time?
Posting photos on the iPad through Media-My Albums-(Select album)-Add an item to upload-File to upload, click on browse item and select take a picture or camera roll options and then select item from camera roll to upload (or take a picture). No need to resize is my experience compared to 'the other place', hence loads more pictures from me on here than there! HTH?
I accidentally put my safari browser into "private" mode.
Whenever I accessed this forum it put me into the mobile site and made me login.
When I finally figured out what I'd done, I turned off private mode and everything went back to normal.
Regards,
John P
I'll have a look to see if my safari has gone into private mode too, other than that I have to boot the computer up if
I wanted to use the the picture insertion etc..looks like not everyone is affected by these updates yet. :confused2:
FYI, my OS is 9.2.1 and Safari hasn't updated itself for as far back as I can check.

No problem until tonight!
Well thanks for all the replies it looks like nothing can be done..updates seem to bring more misery than joy with apple. Think we can close the thread now.
Just to say,on my lenovo tablet...this doesn't happen. :claphappy:
This definitely sounds like an individual problem, I've not had a problem with safari on my iPad.

Never speak too soon my friend.
It's possible that the site's plonked some spurious data in the cookie stored on your iPad for its settings during an internet outage or other glitch. If you go to the Advanced option in Settings - Safari, you can used the Website Data option to scan through for the www.ngaugeforum.co.uk (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk) data and delete it. Restart Safari and go to the site again and in theory that should cause it to create a new cookie (i.e. you'll probably have to select it away from showing in mobile mode and sign in) and if the winds are all in the right direction, it might be fixed.
I'm getting this on my iPhone5 for the unread posts I have deleted the cookie as Zwilnik stated.
Any ideas?

looks like its planting some sort of cookie?

That's not planting - that's breeding! ;D. David.
Check your history tab to make sure you are not clearing your browsing history on exiting safari or on shut down.
You may also want to check your settings in general to make sure they are saving settings on exit / shut down.
Sometimes if I don't clear history in safari,it won't search..so what do you make of that.

Personally ?
I gave up with Safari and IE years ago, I wont go anywhere near them, I now use Firefox on all of my devices, it's virtually glitch free.
To put it simply, apple cocked up the updates..not on everybodies equipment I admit, but on most.
In safari I have turned off all the search requirements in settings and it still completes everything I put in,which baffles me.
