Title: Dismantling the Farish GUV
Post by: Jim Martin on January 31, 2019, 01:14:25 AM
Has anyone managed to dismantle a Farish GUV - the current version, not the old "printed body" one?

I've just bought a green one (catalogue number 374-131A) and I'm not really seeing how to break into it. The underframe seems to be fantastically well-attached to the body and I cant work out how to separate the two. The roof appears immovable, too. Any advice about how to get the thing into pieces would be gratefully received.

Hello Jim,

The body is clipped on in the usual way. There is some flex in the chassis and I found the easiest way to get a blade or whatever (steel rule in my case) between the body and chassis was to carefully pull a buffer beam down and slot the blade in the gap exposed below the body side. I've just re-tried it as I write this. It does work!

Cheers

Question is why you need to break in to it?? It's not like there's any interior detail to add...

It's his truck. It's his perogative. Let him break into it if he wants to! :) :) :)
Perhaps he just wants to be nosey.

Cheers

You would be surprised...

I am grateful for this thread as I intend to make use of the frame / bogies from a new tooling GUV for an upcoming project.

I would be amazed if Jim is doing the same as myself, but GUVs were / are useful beasts.

It's not that cunning. A brief look through my posting history would probably reveal the truth.

If it is anything like the Autocoach, it has 6 clips, 3 each side. Good fingernails and very thin plasticard to stop the blighters reclipping when you get them apart! Good luck.
