Slightly confused here - presumably the vinyls will be applied to the coach before it's sent out? I'm guessing NSE  :D

(Not participating yet due to lack of layout)

Oooh, I could actually participate now I have enough layout to photograph this in. As I'm in Japan not sure how that would work with reimbursing the sender; I could possibly send a Japanese N gauge item of their or my choice in equivalent value to the postage back to the UK. For the record, I've never had any problems with packages, including ones containing railway bits, between Japan and the UK. (If there's anyone in the Antipodes or anywhere else around these oriental parts it might make sense to coordinate postage regionally).

Evening all!

The tour has begun!! I received the coach the day before TINGS and it appeared on at least 4 layouts during the weekend. Rather embarrassingly I forgot to photo the coach on Sheaf! Thankfully Mr Old Warren got one

I did remember to photo the coach on Wenlock though

I see from the list that Oliver Abbot is wanting the coach for the start of November, as such I am awaiting confirmation from Shiney Sheff on where to send the coach to next!

Cheers,

Ollie

Looking ahead to February 2016, is there likely to be a 2016 version to run at the Bournemouth show, organised by the East Dorset NGS Area Group.(could we maybe get a "6" to stick over the 5 if all else fails?)

Is it likely to be at the NGF meet at Trowbridge (has a date been fixed for this yet?)

The coach has arrived here and I've got the next address.  Photos to follow and I'll try and have it in the post by Thursday.

This is so neat! I hadn't seen this thread before. My layout is nowhere near ready but I do have a few questions:

1. Will the coach touring in 2016 be the same coach or will it be a second coach?

2. If it is a different coach, will the 2015 coach continue to circulate as well?

3. Are there any plans to do a map of where the coach has been?

4. Would someone be interested in creating a Facebook page for it so we can follow it on the forum Facebook page as well?

Thanks to everyone who has made this exciting project happen :) Hopefully my layout will be ready for next year's tour!

I think when the 2016 coach appears, the 2015 should go on tour in the US, Canada, NZ, SA and Oz. ;)

TANK Where is the coach going after The Bournmouth show Do I send it to Petercharlesfagg or is it staying with  Dorsetmike .
I have sent a PM to Rabbitaway to find out where he lives if it's not that faraway from the show at Egham I  said I might be able to pop in on my way home to let him photo it on his layout. But it does depend where exactly he lives.

Not sure if it is a good idea sending it to me!

I have neither layout nor baseboard at this moment in time!

I am awaiting an estimate from a carpenter to construct a level baseboard that I can raise to the ceiling! ( Trying to think positively towards gaining some pleasure in the time I have left)

I had completely forgotten about the coach!

I think I follow Rabbitaway and this is just to say that I am happy to fit in with any arrangements, including delaying receiving the coach if that helps.  I'm not able to get to any of the upcoming shows so it will mean using the post.  All I need to do now is try to conjure up a story to explain how a Mark 2 coach appeared in Devon/Cornwall in the period 1955/65;  I suppose it could have been an early test version?

The prototype Mark 2, FK 13252, was built in 1963, (it's now preserved by the National Railway Museum and on loan to the Mid-Norfolk Railway). The first Mark 2 coaches were constructed as early as 1964–66 (see my BR SR Green Mark 2 FK on Cant Cove) but the 'production' Mark 2A series (as modelled by Graham Farish) did not appear until 1967–68. So, if you can pretend that it is a Mark 2 on trial then you can justify it appearing in Devon/Cornwall in the period 1964/65.

Next stop Stonehouse then next weekend Southampton just as a publicity showing then Bournemouth Show the first week in February to be photographed on some members layouts then I will post it up to Anselm .not Perercharles fagg as on the list unfortunately his layout isn't ready and his eyesight is not good at the moment, this is has all been given the go ahead by the boss TANK so I hope this hasn't upset anybody thinking they will miss thier turn.
Thanks to PostModN66 for a very nice look behind the scenes of Deansmore and to Rabbitaway for trying to get the coach back to the show on time despite the horrendous  traffic in his area my friend and his wife were getting a little bit fed up waiting for me , but they did understand , in fact we got held up a little while going through Slough on our way home.

Perhaps I can get my five year old grandson to help me he ( TIDED UP HIS MUMS IPHONE BY PUTTING ALL HER ICONS INTO ONE ) it took her a while to sort it out. I wish I was young again.

Just out of interest a G scale boxcar has circumnavigated the globe - see https://www.gscalecentral.net/threads/round-robin-boxcar.69299/page-2 (https://www.gscalecentral.net/threads/round-robin-boxcar.69299/page-2)

The name of every railway visited was written on the outside of the van and a memento of the visit added to the inside. This obviously cant be done in N.

This is the van on the now dismantled Kirtley Works layout.

This was mentioned in the January Railway Modeller.

The New Railway Modellers Forum (http://www.newrailwaymodellers.co.uk/Forums/index.php) had a couple of US-style box cars which were being sent around and "graffitied" by each recipient, not sure what happened to them.

I don't usually either, unless I'm passing through the UK. Just thought I'd mention it as seeing it here triggered a fuzzy memory. Maybe someone can write in about the NGF one, if that hasn't happened already  :beers:

Then again a NGF HST rake would be something different to see!!

Here's the entry from the Bournemouth show, afraid I only got the chance to get one video, when I tried on the group layout I appear to have developed a camera problem, it worked fine for this vid and for two other vids I shot earlier(see another post) The layout is Ins & Outs, recently purchased by one of our group members, Stuart Farmer. Two intertwined figure 8s.

Don't know if you have it where you are but in France we now have "tailors" where you can buy "made to measure suits" where they don't measure you with a tape measure but scan you in a thing like a shower cubical.

You can then see the scanned 3D image of yourself on a computer screen.

I never realised I looked so much like the Fat Controller !

Best regards,

Joe

In the autumn of 1963 Basil Brunel (no relation to I K), one of the design team for the new Mark 2 Coach, arranged for trials of an early test bed on the steep and sharp curves of Devon/Cornwall.  It arrived attached to the morning Cornish Riviera from Paddington
[smg id=35361]

and was dropped off in Withiel where it would be based for a couple of weeks
[smg id=35362]
[smg id=35363]

Trainspotters were divided on whether the Western or the new coach was of greater interest
[smg id=35366]

Elsewhere other spotters thumbed through their Ian Allen books trying to identify the new coach
[smg id=35374]

Local dignitaries wait for the green signal before setting off on their official trip or "jolly"
[smg id=35364]

Withiel cricket team are finishing off the last match of the season and there was much discussion over tea about the new coach and the strange writing on the side.  What was a "co.uk" and why "2015"?
[smg id=35371]

With many thanks to Chris in Prague both for his inspirational stories about his own layout and background detail on the Mark 2 coach.

Many thanks, Anselm,, for an excellent set of photos. of a very attractive layout. Glad to be of help. Your Desert Sand D1000 is a very attractive model. If they are ever produced, again, I would be very much tempted to buy one!

You're very welcome to join this Easter's program of WR Special Steam and Diesel hauled 'through' trains.

Maybe, next summer, Cant Cove will be presentable enough to host the NGF coach?

As the 2015 coach wasn't announced until well into July, I imagine it's more like a tax year ;)

Next on the list is Port Perran, but logistically it might make sense if I sent the coach on eastwards across the Pacific.

By all means send it across the Pacific first then it can come across to Cornall.

If no one else will be horribly offended and so long as it really is alright with Martin, then I would be ecstatic to have it arrive here! PM me when you are ready for shipping details, so I can give you my address and set up some way to reimburse you for the cost! If everyone's fine with that we can do it that way.

Coach has passed through Heathrow and is on its way to Kawasaki (where all international packages to the Tokyo area arrive). It'll probably be another 3~4 days before it arrives here.

Can't wait to see some pictures of it on your layout! Should make quite the change from its usual venues! Take your time and get some good shots of it all over Eitetsumura! All of the detail in your layout creates lots of opportunities for some really top notch scenes :) I am now getting in full gear so I can have my layout ready for the coach's arrival (so certainly not rushing you on my end!).

I should clarify that's some Z gauge track a friend brought along, the bar has a proper N gauge layout too. Note the "N" on the chopstick wrapper, the following characters say "ゲージ", i.e. "gauge". And yes the chopsticks are Shinkansen-shaped.

Fortunately the Japanese Shinkansen models are built to 1:160 rather than the usual Japanese 1:150, so they don't dwarf British stock too much.

It was approaching a terminus... I don't yet have a line capable of running those at speed, but they are certainly very zippy at full power. The buffet car in that formation (4th coach) is the one with the motor and it's the most powerful "loco" I have. To make things worse, the whole set cost less than 50 quid new.

Meanwhile footage is emerging of the initial arrival of the NGF coach. We see here a tour coach disgorging passengers who are heading towards the level crossing, where spectators are already spectating - something must be up.

Yes, it's the Squid diesel railcar, arriving from Hokkaido which the NGF coach reached via the Trans-Siberian railway; topped by the Squid, the coach was tailed by the Crab for its long trip from Japan's most northerly main island.

Love that shot of the railway fan, Bob! Thanks for posting the pictures :)

And I'm excited for it to arrive too! That said, I'm very much enjoying the pictures and videos of its visit to Japan (especially the super cute squid and crab train!) and am looking forward to seeing some more before it crosses the Pacific :) I've been sneaking in some work on the layout in-between unpacking boxes and things are slowly coming together for the coach's arrival  :D

Unfortunately didn't get as much done in the way of photograpy as planned, for various reasons including but not limited to it being a grey, cold and windy day.

Anyway here's the coach overlooking one corner of the Imperial palace grounds (the green blur in the background):

We could always squeeze you in as next recipient as the coach is almost in the same time zone, I could lower it down to you on a rope.

But first... sorry it shrunk.

Umm, still with me - however on Sunday I've been invited to an event at the Kato HQ here in Tokyo which is to kick off a project aimed at creating the longest N gauge layout (T track modules) in the world, in time for the 2020 Olympics, so I'll take the coach along as it's sure to attract interest and there will definitely be opportunities for photos. Then I'll send it on, promise.

In the continuing adventures of the 2015 NGF Coach in 2016 in Japan...

The coach goes on a little trip on the metro

to a station called Ochiai Minami-Nagasaki (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ochiai-minami-nagasaki_Station), which is probably the only station in the world where the announcement includes the word "N Gauge". For it's in close proximity to

the remarkably plush Kato HQ which features a train outside

and inside we meet a certain Kato-san, yes the Mr Kato himself, boss of the entire operation, who very kindly agreed to pose with the coach.

Very nice bloke too.

Off east over the Pacific to America soon (the coach that is).

PS I still have the box of course, just using this slightly tougher one to carry it around in.

The coach arrived today in my corner of the world! I'm at work with it right now, so it hasn't made it home to the layout yet, but this evening I will get some pictures of it in Avondale. I have tomorrow off so I'm going to probably get a good chance to play with it some and pose it for pictures (including hopefully one of it at the beach! Should be able to repost it to Cornwall by Monday :)

Updates soon to come :)

After that, I couldn't resist swinging back by work to take a shot of the coach running on US metals...

(http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/gallery/40/4712-090616003229.jpeg) (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view&id=40865)

We have had it as a door stop since I was little (5-6). A customer who worked for the railroad discovered I liked trains, so he brought me a piece of rail, which my father has used as a door stop for the store every day since :)

Alright, enough for now, soon it will make its first appearance in Avondale with lots of pictures to accompany it, but before that... DINNER! :)

Philip

Quite right, Martin, and sorry for the delay. I've been working everyday and haven't had much chance to pose it for pictures (when I am home I've mostly been making sure everyone gets a turn pulling it round the layout!).

Speaking of, a new loco was added to the roster yesterday, a UM Dean Goods, which can be seen here pulling the a special coach into Avondale station. The coach is decorated in a special livery celebrating the n gauge forum, a society whose membership have contributed considerably to the running and construction of Avondale station. Aboard the coach are a number of NGF VIPs and on the platform, many residents of Avondale and volunteers from the railway have gathered to greet the railway's biggest benefactors.

More pictures to come in the next couple of days and then I will get it in the mail to Cornwall. I will probably post it Tuesday, if that's ok with you, Martin,  as I have work Monday as well. If not, I can delegate someone else to post it for me Monday.

Thanks all,

The coach in half brown and half chocolate and cream intrigues me ?
As does that thing that looks like a glass of beer standing on the platform ?

Many thanks :)

The coach is an Mk1 BCK in SLOA Pullman livery produced by the Bachmann collectors club. It runs as a support coach for mainline locomotives and is owned by the Steam Locomotive Opperators Association.

The beer glass was a lovely little surprise that arrived in the package with the coach, courtesy of @railsquid (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=3832) . A big thank you to him for it :) Though I need to double check and make sure it isn't supposed to continue to travel with the coach (which would be neat as well!).

Up to you :D I have a bunch of odd items like that I put in when sending stuff to people.

Though seeing it like that makes me think I could use something similar as a giant beerglass advertisment on an N-scale building  :hmmm:

Your loco collection is impressive. I also impressed about your layout too!! Are they paper kit building? If so look better than the plastic one!! Thank you for posting!

Thanks, @dats475 (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=5197) , that's very kind of you :) Almost all of the buildings are metcalfe kits, which require little skill and produce great results. What you lose in three deminsionality is made up for in spades with the detailing. A few of the buildings are scratch built/kit bashed, but most of the credit goes to Nick Metcalfe for the designs ;)

As for the locos, I like anything steam and preBR, so I've built up a bit of a variety and I like it that way :)

Thanks for the compliments guys! I really enjoyed the coach's stay here in Avondale-by-the-Sea, and it is now on its way to Cornwall!

We returned to Cornwall late yesterday after a short mini break to North Wales.
This morning we made a brief visit to Portreath beach just up the road and found this little chap washed up on the shoreline.  Seems to have made it across the Atlantic from the United States . I cleaned it up and sat it on the wall for a quick snap :

Apologies for the poor picture quality (it was wet and windy I'm afraid).
More pictures of the coach at work on Trepol Bay and Port Perran to follow.

Beautiful! Glad to see the glass bottle I set it afloat in managed to make it across in a timely manner ;)

I love the stone rising out of the sea behind it. So different from the water here!

Many thanks for the picture :) Can't wait to see it arrive at Trepol Bay and Port Perran!

It's 1963 and amid extreme secrecy a VERY futuristic carriage has been completed at Derby works and marketed as a "Taste of the Future".
Due to the reputation of their quality paintwork the Cornish Locomotive Preservation Group were chosen to finish the paintwork on the carriage. A great honour indeed.
The carriage was worked down to Port Perran over night  covered in tarpaulins) and delivered into the CLPG workshop (an old goods shed) for painting.
The carriage is seen here being shunted out of the workshop for the first time.
Certainly looks very impressive :

The NGS Carriage has been undergoing running in trials around North Cornwall and is seen somewhat incongruously on a variety of workings :

The NGF Coach is nearing the end of its stay at Port Perran and Trepol Bay so a few photos to remember its visit by :
The carriage was stabled in Platform 2 at Trepol Bay for most of yesterday so that passengers could get a glimpse of the futuristic design. Seen here (somewhat incorgruously) in the company of the restored T9 which works in the area :
(http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/uu257/martinscane/A61_zpskbotaox2.jpg) (http://s653.photobucket.com/user/martinscane/media/A61_zpskbotaox2.jpg.html)
The carriage was also used on normal service trains. Seen here yesterday on the 15.20 departure for Wadebridge hauled by an N Class mogul :

And finally, the NGF Coach says goodbye to North & West Cornwall leaving the area as part of a special train hauled by a brand new Class 52 Western diesel hydraulic.
The train will make its way to the Bristol area where we expect to see yet more photos in due course :

Hopefully the carriage will make an appearance at several more model railways in due course.

Great pictures (and video), thanks for those!

Just had word from the panel which covers Parkway and Filton West, the 52 hauled special has been given the road into a platform (wasn't clear which one).

I will have a word with the TMD shift manager to see what motive power can be sent along to pick it up  :hmmm:

Good evening all.

Very honored to say that my layout is now hosting the NGF coach, having arrived safely (and very well packed) from Martin today.

The 52 hauled special arrived quite late on Friday evening, so late that the Filton TMD was actually closed, as can be seen in this uncharacteristically quiet shot:

The station staff at Filton West were left in a bit of a conundrum as to how to retrieve the Tour Coach.

After much discussion, sucking in through teeth and beard scratching about what motive power could be spared to pick up the special coach from Bristol Parkway, it was decided to simply attach it to the last local train on Friday night.

Here is the NSE 121 emerging from under the A38 complete with the celebrity coach in tow:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/l0egtrxm5htasbf/IMG_1841.MOV?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/l0egtrxm5htasbf/IMG_1841.MOV?dl=0)

The 121 then un-coupled, pulled forward and reversed into the bay platform.  Fellow celebrity "Ivor" then rolled up from Avonmouth docks to shunt the coach into the bay in front of the 121:

This allows the coach to be accessible for the weekends festivities.

"Ivor" then moved off to refuel before being stabled for the night.

Having cleared the mainline, the very last train from Avonmouth (a short rake of TTAs hauled by Class 60 "Charles Babbage") of the night rattled through Filton West.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/r8azmw5psiu7fzz/IMG_1844.MOV?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/r8azmw5psiu7fzz/IMG_1844.MOV?dl=0)

On Saturday morning, the early Temple Meads to Avonmouth service (via Parkway) arrives to unload the eager hordes keen to have a good look at the NGF coach.

Before they could get too many pictures however, the morning peace is shattered as the weekly steel train from Avonmouth rumbles through. This week is extra loud as the scheduled 60 has failed and so two 37s are commandeered from the depot pool instead:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/krwwp4yveeya3b7/IMG_1847.MOV?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/krwwp4yveeya3b7/IMG_1847.MOV?dl=0)

Finally (for today), the train is seen heading under the A38 on its way towards the Parkway.

More pictures to follow through the week when I get time. May be intermittent as I have some jobs I have been "volunteered" for by future Mrs-Skyline, but I have some good ideas for special services and trains using the coach.

:D

Glad the coach arrived safely Adam.
Great pictures and looking forward to more over the next few days.
Lovely layout you have there.
It's amazing how the coach manages to travel in time so well traversing several decades during its journey around the world.   Only last week it was in 1963 !

Good evening again

Happy to report some further happenings from the recent arrival of the NGF coach in the Filton area.

As will quickly become apparent in the photos below, the theme of the NGF Tour Gala was "Double Up"...

First things first, a second 08 (in this case the resident RF distribution shunter) was marshaled into place behind the guest coach.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/q63q00ihdztdwyq/IMG_1862.JPG?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/q63q00ihdztdwyq/IMG_1862.JPG?dl=0)

The "Double Gronk" service then rolled into platform 2 to allow the lucky ticket holders to board ready for the off to Avonmouth.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/khsi1oc42ntx2ru/IMG_1863.JPG?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/khsi1oc42ntx2ru/IMG_1863.JPG?dl=0)

And here is the train (probably already at full speed) leaving.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/rr9mwagjlqsj1qh/IMG_1865.MOV?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/rr9mwagjlqsj1qh/IMG_1865.MOV?dl=0)

Also seen in the above video is the second of the special trains for the day, a 26 hauled inspection saloon.

Here we can see the train upon arrival in platform 1.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/xr64h4zldbg0k29/IMG_1866.JPG?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/xr64h4zldbg0k29/IMG_1866.JPG?dl=0)

The passengers were allowed to stay on board as the saloon was shunted into the TMD yard.

Here you can it being readied for another special...

https://www.dropbox.com/s/liktsbiy05hmnlz/IMG_1867.JPG?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/liktsbiy05hmnlz/IMG_1867.JPG?dl=0)

A couple of hours later, the fresh load of enthusiasts delivered by the Regional 153  were in for a real treat. The "Double Gronk" was back and, do my eyes deceive me, a Kettle!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/x1txnuc9evcdtt3/IMG_1868.JPG?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/x1txnuc9evcdtt3/IMG_1868.JPG?dl=0)

67001, itself a bit of a rarity at this time in Filton (!), has just brought a GWR Prairie Tank from Didcot via Temple Meads.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/biblemfuokxub1w/IMG_1870.JPG?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/biblemfuokxub1w/IMG_1870.JPG?dl=0)

The last train to share today is another Double.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/az4sjc2yqsnfr3y/IMG_1871.JPG?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/az4sjc2yqsnfr3y/IMG_1871.JPG?dl=0)

Possibly the most over-powered service ever to run out of Filton, the "Double Bone" roared out of the TMD towards Avonmouth.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/103bltw5dwfjohd/IMG_1873.MOV?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/103bltw5dwfjohd/IMG_1873.MOV?dl=0)

The coach has another week with me and then its off again. Its been real fun so far, thinking about some more specials to send it off with.

Hello again

So I promise I am running low on "special" trains now, so won't be bombarding you for much longer.

Previously we saw the departure of the "Double Bone" from Filton West to Avonmouth. That service later returned direct to platform 2 (running wrong road from the tunnel past the old signal box).

This routing was to allow the usual scheduled service (in the form of a Class 170) to run into platform 1 as normal.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4ii6hil8c2pfw25/IMG_1874.JPG?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/4ii6hil8c2pfw25/IMG_1874.JPG?dl=0)

No sooner had that cleared the way, then an extremely new an shiny looking ballast set (consisting of 66 135 and 4x curved JJAs plus generator unit) rumbled through:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ndmxgom6qqcctu7/IMG_1876.JPG?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/ndmxgom6qqcctu7/IMG_1876.JPG?dl=0)

https://www.dropbox.com/s/zwlj3an19qpj0qb/IMG_1878.MOV?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/zwlj3an19qpj0qb/IMG_1878.MOV?dl=0)

https://www.dropbox.com/s/3v4hq8s0abjuokl/IMG_1877.JPG?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/3v4hq8s0abjuokl/IMG_1877.JPG?dl=0)

I have tried to phase these updates of pictures and videos in a rough order of era that I run on my layout. This set is probably about as current as I get.  Those who have read my layout thread may know that this rake was an impulse purchase encouraged by beloved. Judging by the prices these are now going for, I think it was a wise one.

Anyway, back to the celebrity coach.

The penultimate service due to run with the NGF coach was to be a steam hauled special to Temple Meads and then onwards to Didcot. The service was to consist of the previously seen Prairie Tank, Inspection Saloon, NGF Coach and 67001

Here we can see the resident 08 marshalling the train in platform 1 via the seldom used cross-over:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/hdrbsxspeee1yq8/IMG_1879.JPG?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/hdrbsxspeee1yq8/IMG_1879.JPG?dl=0)

And here is the assembled train ready for the off, whilst the ballast set returns running through platform 2.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/7xxz0lmi20fsmtz/IMG_1885.JPG?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/7xxz0lmi20fsmtz/IMG_1885.JPG?dl=0)

https://www.dropbox.com/s/jlstj77lhfwwj8e/IMG_1886.JPG?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/jlstj77lhfwwj8e/IMG_1886.JPG?dl=0)

And finally, I thought it would be nice to share a shot of what it looks like "off stage" as I play trains with this much stock.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/m7s8itryhqcobtk/IMG_1881.JPG?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/m7s8itryhqcobtk/IMG_1881.JPG?dl=0)

The layout was designed around the idea of mainly running locos to and from the TMD light engine, with DMU services serving the station (2 / 3 coach trains on the main line and single car units in the bay). The two longer sidings can cope with short rakes of fuel, steel, nuke or engineers wagons, but I like to keep the outer one free to swop units over.

Anyway, I am busy for the rest of the week so will probably be Sunday before I post my final update.

Skyline2uk

@kirky (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=492) , with you not needing the coach until August, should I send it to @petercharlesfagg (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=2262) in the meantime?

No problem either way, just checking I play by the rules

I think we will need guidance from @Tank (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=2)

And so, like all good things, the NGF coach visit to Filton TMD has come to an end.

I am busy for the rest of the week so tonight was the last chance I had to play trains and capture specials.

Last post saw the arrangement of a Steam Special, which was just about to leave Filton West. Well here is said train leaving (really poor quality, sorry!):

https://www.dropbox.com/s/xtf988q24idvbrf/IMG_1935.MOV?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/xtf988q24idvbrf/IMG_1935.MOV?dl=0)

and here is the train upon arrival in "the rest of the world" (nominally Didcot).

The return trip was to form the last "special" train of the coach visit. Its probably not a surprise to some to see what motive power was arranged to haul this one (but at least I still used 67001 to provide at least some theoretical power)....

https://www.dropbox.com/s/dww1vhwk2mcu8kg/IMG_1938.MOV?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/dww1vhwk2mcu8kg/IMG_1938.MOV?dl=0)

Again, not good quality, I was experimenting with up close films....

So here are some aerial shots of the 92 and coach at Filton West.

And here you can see the two passenger units parked in the bay platform, arranged to give the visiting hordes a train home.

And now we turn to the way the staff of the TMD have arranged to dispatch the coach to its next destination. A second 67 (67008) has arrived to, fittingly, double head with 67001.

I am happy I decided to give 67008 a run tonight. Being part of my later (privitised) fleet, it doesn't get a run as often as the "Triple Grey" locos. This is a shame because it really is an excellent performer.

Here is a (rather better quality) video of a parcels rake running through Filton West with the NGF Coach marshaled at the front. Also seen passing in the opposite direction is a dutch 31 on Nuke duty.

And here are two more shots of the train heading under the A38. This marks the last time the coach is seen in the area (and on the "scenic" side of the layout).

And, just for fun, here is what happened "off stage".

The resident 08 shunter arrived to carefully "pack" the coach away.....

Really glad I took part in this tour, sign me up for the next one!

Great photo's Adam.  The layout is coming on really well.  I particularly like the red station furniture.  Hoping to have mine in a few weeks time.  :)

@Tank (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=2)  How do I get put on the list? I'd love to have the coach visit Midsummer End (and my new Model Heritage Railway layout)

Regards

Thanks Tank. I've got an exhibition first weekend of September with Midsummer end and will then be at tings if that makes organising anything easier.

Hi
Here's the latest installement from the NGF Coach Tour.

The coach tour turned up in Redcar first, unusually with a DRS support coach for some reason, whilst being hauled by a 60. Strange...

It didnt stop though. Straight through Redcar and Marske and onwards to Saltburn...

Approaching Saltburn:

just arriving into the station

And on the platform
(http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/gallery/42/492-080816103017-42660169.jpeg)

The tour spent a night in a local hostel to see their tour continue. They picked up a new class 60 and went back through Redcar and onwards to Middlesbrough and Eaglescliffe whre the train took the route headed for the ECML and onwards south.

Here the tour is seen speeding through Northallerton ...

And the helicopter shot:

Somewhere in the depths of my camera I have arrivals at Northallerton and the venture down the link line. All this coming up soon

cheers
Kirky

Thanks for those pictures and videos. The coach looks well at home there.
I'm intrigued by the two lines of numbers above the layout in the second photo?

Nothing particularly exciting Im afraid. Its simply a whiteboard with some sort of scoring on it. The layouts are in a sports hall in a college. Sorry.

Friends, Coach has arrived in sunny Northampton!

It will take a few days to clear my rubbish ,wife etc. and then I will post some static images.

I do not have any landscaping but will attempt to gather interest with what I can muster!

regards, Peter.

Not quite, the Tour Coach is heading to Midsummer End ready for the Dapol Collectors Club Open Day and Thetford Model Railway show at the very beginning of October and I think there is someone after me also.

If Adam @captainelectra (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=9) could knock up some decals for a couple of wagons, then I'm happy?  Too late for a 2016, so perhaps a 2016 and 2017 together?

I'm sure that won't be a problem. 😀

Hi All, I'm pleased to confirm that the 2015 Tour coach is still going strong.  It arrived at Midsummer End last week just in time for the Dapol Collectors Club open day.  A few photos below show her in the hands of N Class 868 at Midsummer End.  She also came out for a play at the Small trains event at the East Anglian Railway Museum yesterday.  Next is a trip to the Thetford Model show next weekend with a run on the Model Heritage Railway layout during the week.  More photos will follow but for now I'll leave these two photos..

Thanks to Tank and Malc/Peter for getting the coach to me in time for the Dapol Open Day!

If you're going to have two wagons, one could always be nominated as the 2016 wagon and the other for 2017?

I personally think it might be worth doing a 2017/2018 tour wagon instead as 2016 is as good as over now..  It's taken 2 years to tour the coach, so 2017/2018 for the wagon would fit well.

Steve

A 1975/6 one would suit my layout more!

The tour coach had a final run out today before retiring to Tank.  Today Midsummer End visited Thetford & District Model Rail Society exhibition and the tour coach came along too.

Here the touch coach has a run out behind Southern N Class 868

Thanks to Tank for letting the coach come for a last run out and I can't wait to see the next tour wagons.

Regards

Steve.
