My 56xx arrived today too - only been a 16 month wait!  Looks very cute tho...

It's currently running in but so far seems to run very nicely.  One derailment on a setrack point to report so far but only when running backwards.

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing badly.

It does look really good in lined green :heart2:

You have already got one in lined green. Agreed it is suitably grubby for something from the 60s but you don't need three....that would be just greedy

Now that 5643 has been run in for a couple of hours I thought I'd video it pulling a few treacle tankers around the track...

The earlier derailment going backwards over points seems to have been a one-off and it's now runnng very well.  Here it's running on pure DC but my next trick will be to try it on PWM - 30kHz since it has a coreless motor (I believe).

At some point in time aliens must have beamed me up, experimented on me and then returned me to my dwelling (it might well explain a few things :-[) as I completely missed this release from Dapol but have caught up and ordered one from the Railway Model Store. Rightly or wrongly they will appear with early crest locos. Maybe it was just the shock of seeing decent coaches for £23 each!!

These were repainted green as soon as possible after 1956, and ran like this until 1961, so yes you can run these with early crest SR locos.

Whereas the SR had some BR Mk 1 4-car sets in Crimson/Cream until at least 1962, when they had to repaint them when the old Maunsells were scrapped.

I knew my black e/c C class would come in handy for more than the birdcage set :)

Newportnobby

The set arrived today so I set up a couple of shots 'out in the countryside'.
It's a really neat set and I very much like the 'expandable' corridor connections facility.

Finally! Managed to clear enough DIY and model kit projects from the workbench (aka dining table) so I could get the test-track out for a bit. Recent arrivals include a tranche of RevolutioN FWAs. This is Freightliner FWA Ecofret intermodal twin-set 83 70 4520 056-0 and 057-8.

These are lovely wagons. The only crititism I could could come up with, was what at first sight looked like a mark from where the bogie was detached from the sprue. But,  on closer inspection,  :-[ it's a legible stencil!

WHAT!!!!

I really hope they were second hand, new FIA pairs are £75 a time. I'd sell my pets for the black one with Axis containers ( I already sold my children and grandchildren  :worried: ).

And you got a DCC kettle free of charge  :D

This lovely model arrived this morning the new Gaugemaster Class 43 NMT, I had forgotten I had pre-ordered it until Hattons emailed me to say it was on it's way, I claim this as a Senior Moment. I hope someone will do the missing coaches to make up the full train.

Hi

Externally the power cars look the same as the initial release John, in that one has buffers and both have cameras.
