Not my latest purchase, but my latest kit completion. I bought a couple of Chivers Finelines LNER horsebox kits on eBay, and just completed the second today.

A nice kit, finished as a brand new vehicle, fresh from the works.

Well I've managed to get hold of a few Brewery wagons but thought I was neglecting my evening tipple so fresh from my trip to Edinburgh for the Tattoo and courtesy of Harburn Hobbies I present for your delectation

while in Scotland I managed a visit to the Glengoyne distillery where my little treasure bought me

'Honest, M'lud, it was there, on the East Somerset Models stand, across the aisle from "Dunestone" at the NGF Meet at Yeovil. It was there on the shelf, staring at me - staring, staring, staring... I had to buy it, just to stop it staring at me...'

'Oh the wagons, they were with the other ones, but as soon as I saw the 'E s' branding, they had to go as well...'

Three generations of Farish Large Logo Class 37s

From left to right:
1.) Poole Farish "Loch Rannoch" from around 2000.
2.) The newly tooled Bachmann Farish "Loch Eil" (without nameplates fitted yet) TMC special edition from 2012/13
3.) The previous split chassis Bachmann Farish "Highland Region" which used the Poole Farish 37/4 body shell (2005/06)

I bought the TMC version about a week ago from Hattons Pre-Owned.  It was fine in all regards with nameplates present along with the bag of bits.  I'm aware the TMC model has some errors which is why they didn't sell well and why TMC are still trying to get rid of them 2 or 3 years later with prices discounted £20, but TMC wanted more than £20 for airmail post to California!  Absolutely absurd.  I only paid £4 or £5 for airmail shipping from Hattons.

I still would have saved a few quid buying from TMC but given that I'd never bought from them before and Hattons have given me superb customer service for the past nine years, who to buy from was an easy choice.

IMHO, while the latest tooling of the 37 is the best of the lot, the earlier releases actually don't look too poorly in comparison and can hold their own.  On a layout, you could use all 3 together without anything looking amiss.

A lovely collection of 37's. I still prefer the green livery though. I remember cabbing D202 (as it was then). We had come through Brentwood, topped the bank at 90 through Shenfield and were really flying when bang! a crow spread itself across both windscreens and we had to stop at Ingatestone to have them cleaned. We still made Norwich on time!

Great story! Wasn't your good self who cleaned the windscreen, then?  :sick2:

Matt: I feel a bit the same way about their new Deltic... I reckon the old model doesn't look too bad alongside it.

No not me' I was still at school on my way back for the start of term. With a dad who was a senior official I got lots of chances to cab locos.
