Bloke in the shop told me that as they are so old it's rumoured they were actually on Noah's ark. I remember from school that there were 2 of everything on the ark so.........

In April 2024 I will be raising money for Cancer Research UK by doing at least 100 press-ups every day.  Feel free to click on the picture to go to the donations page if you would like to help me to reach my target.

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

My last carriage arrived today to complete my short 1980s cross-country carriage set.
The Mk2f FO arrived first (already shown earlier), then the buffet car, next was the Mk2f TSO
and finally - today - the Mk2f BSO.

Inpressive thus far. Just needs 1 more standard coach

Go on, you know you want one  >:D

You're not wrong, however, an empty bank account and work uncertainty (self-employed), means it'll have to wait a while. Plus, there's a pile of other stuff I'd like which would be more appropriate.

But, maybe one day.

Sometimes you bite the dog...

...sometimes the dog bites you!

I can explain it to you...

...but I can't understand it for you.

Useful additions for the plymouth parcels train rob
I've a few myself and just need a little weathering

Now we know @DarrwestLU6  you opened your present to yourself

Haven't bought one of these for years. In fact they were still being made at Poole when I got the last one. Fresh out of the Box in the afternoon, and by evening a bit of light weathering applied.  :)

If it looks difficult it probably is, but might as well get on with it anyway!

Couple more additions...

The Class 55 seems to be DOA unfortunately. Tested it on an oval of Kato unitrack and no movement whatsoever. I feel like I have a knack for finding locos that don't want to run...my fault for buying used though. These two orders each came from the States. Need to figure out how to work on them I guess, or something.

Buying used doesn't mean you should receive items that don't work. Unless you buy a second-hand model locomotive that's described as not being operational or not tested then you're perfectly entitled to expect the item you receive to be operational, especially if you paid the sort of price you'd expect to pay for a working locomotive. If it was eBay or a retailer then I'd be sending it back or requesting a partial refund since the item's not as described.

Not a purchase as such, since it was a present, but here's a TGS to complete my 2+10 BR blue & grey HST. Turns out it's not just shades of INTERCITY grey Dapol has trouble with, but BR blue as well...

Saw and photographed plenty over the years in both schemes- wouldn't have a problem with either of those.

Bought in the recent sale by TMC, a couple of weathered items - Farish horse box and Farish MK1 RMB in green. TMC's idea of weathering seems to be just matting down the shine of the pristine ones so I really think @mk1gtstu has nothing to worry about
I'm sure the RMB would have been washed fairly often so wouldn't be filthy anyway.
The horsebox carries the wording (I think) 'Not to work between Torridge and Battle'
Does anyone know why please?
