Can somebody point me to a websites where I can find more information about which types (and colours) of coaches were in use in the North East (if possible Tyne and Tees) on branchlines during era 4 and 5?

One of your problems is going to be finding most of the coaches in use at least until the Mark 1 coaches completely displaced stuff.

The clips I've seen around the mid 1950s North East seem to be a fair mix of non corridor ex LNER stock, with Gresley stock still on the mainline trains along with 63' thompson stock and odd mark 1 coaches.

Youtube can be a good source of material as it seems video people tended to catch complete trains more than photographers who often just cover the locomotives.

As time went on Mark 1 coaches tended to cause other stuff to be cascaded and DMUs cleaned up most of the branch lines.

Mark 1 coaches are obviously done by Bachmann for the periods including the Mark 1 non corridor suburban stock, mainline Gresley coaches by Dapol. Thompson 63' coaches are available as conversion kits for the Farish Mark 1 coaches or as full kits. Thompson 51' suburbans as etched kits. I'm not sure about the older Gresley ones - I know Chris Higgs (Masterclass) does some stuff in that kind of area.

It's a tricky thing to model exactly in some ways because until the early 1960s there was a lot of ancient stock trundling round the branch line network from the likes of the Barry Railway, SECR, LBSCR, LSWR etc let alone the big four companies own stock.

If its RTR I'd be inclined to perhaps get a couple of the Mark 1 suburbans for the latter end of the period (or a DMU ;)) or even a pair of suburbans and a Gresley or something blatantly not matching to suggest the kind of 'whatever' sort of stock you often got.

Liveries would have been crimson and cream (or plain crimson) giving way to maroon with the odd blue/white vehicle appearing from 1965. The photo/video record shows that mixtures of crimson and maroon liveried stock were the norm.

Thanks for the hint, it gives me some directions, but I was really looking for more area and branch line specific coaches.

Thanks for your reply, this really helped a lot, I know now what to look for. I'll stick tot RTR for now, maybe in a distant future I'll venture in kit building coaches, but there are many more things to do first, like building a layout.
