Has anybody used a resin casting kit? If so how easy are they to use, and how expensive are they? Also who sells them?!
I need at least 3 Minitrix Gresley coach roofs, and as I'm pretty sure there's no spares out there, I'm willing to have a go at making my own! I'll probably make more than 3, so if anybody is in the same situation and they turn out ok, we could come to an 'arrangement'? ;-)

Hi

I have and it was surprisingly easy.

I got mine from here and they also have an online guide on how to use it.

Yes, i can second that. Very easy to use. Not too expensive at aboout £40 for enough stuff to make a couple of moulds and a dozen bits... In N gauge, that is.

I made a class 165 cab end from modelling putty, and made moulds and then cast a couple of resin cab ends for my DMU conversion.  Worked a treat with Electra vinyls. Bob at NTrain has since gone one better with his 3D print, so my little effort is redundant now.

It's a bit of a faff making a mould and then casting bits, so it's not really for something you can buy off the shelf... But if you want something you can't buy and need a few of them, it is a great thing to try.

I'm a personality prototype... you can tell, can't you.

Did one of the magazines have an article recently about resin casting? If so, which one was it?
