While looking amongst my shoe boxes I found a pair of black brogues.... :D

Why would people put shoes in Shoe boxes? A terrible waste of a good N gauge smuggling resource

Apparently, it's an Americanism from the early 1980's - and has a sexual lineage !  Try Googling it  :P

Not sure I agree with either of the above, but ...

Not sure if this should go on the happy thread, as I'm beginning to worry about my memory......Not sure if this should go on the happy thread, as I'm beginning to worry about my memory  :confused1:

However last night, while looking for a stannier tender amongst my shoe boxes of secrets, I found two 8F's I did not realise I had, a pair of black fives and, a damaged class 5 chassis with a note written in my hand, saying don't forget to convert this to a Capprotti 5 you numpty........

Am I going mad??

Only one shoe box of secrets ? My wife Imelda has 50 ! She's on holiday today with 2/3 of our kids so I'm off to hunt for locos in her warderobe(s).

Best regards,

Joe

A few reasons to be feeling good at the moment.

The changes I am making to my layout are coming along nicely, and had a delivery from Hattons (track), and Gaugemaster (scenic items) this week.

The noise & disruption caused by the complete re-tiling of the area around our Communal Pool is coming to an end, and the new tiles are non-slip & much cooler so I won't burn my feet any more when I go for a swim.

Only 2 days to go and the misses and I are off on another cruise (for 2 weeks), around the Canary Isles plus Madeira & Morocco, and am taking a video of my layout with me on my Samsung Tablet to remind me what I have to look forward to when I get back.

Won't be making any more posts for a while though after setting sail.

To answer your question - there are a number of reasons.

1) Spend the Kids Inheritence money - they now have enough money of their own.
2) It's a great way to relax and explore new Destinations, plus great food & wine on board.
3) Gets us away from being pestered at home where my wife is President of our Complex.
4) Got the cruise bug after going on our 1st one some years ago, and it's a nice way to     make new friends.
5) Gives my wife an excuse to buy/wear new evening dresses, and I can wear my Tuxedo.
6) And finally - each of us being retired - we can now afford both the time and the money.

Go for it... you only live once.  :D :beers:
Size matters - especially if you don't have a lot of space - and N gauge is the answer!
