Some of you music lovers may recall the term "Krautrock" from the 70s. An old school friend introduced me to a whole raft of key exponents of the genre (which included many sub-genres). Frumpy (Inga Rumpf) released a few albums and then morphed into Atlantis. Here are Inga and friends in 2006 performing "How the Gypsy was Born"...

Great organ solo!

Wow, Tim. That was right up my strasse. My kind of music, indeed.
I've dabbled in 'Kraut Rock' over the years with Faust, Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk

Meanwhile, I'll throw this out there. The incomparable Maggie Bell with Stone the Crows and 'Sad Mary'

Thanks Mick, I thought you might like Inga and Friends. Maggie Bell/Stone the Crows) kinda passed me by back in the early 70s; however, I was well aware of her capabilities as a fine singer. The track you posted is very good so I will have a further listen. Unfortunately, my collection of Krautrock has been lost in iTunes due to a laptop failure but some of it was burnt onto CD. Another band you might like is Jane, here they are with "Hangman"...

Lots of guitar and organ...

I appear to have lost out on some fine music somehow :-[
I only got into 'Nightwish' 'cos I heard them in a back street restaurant in Prague and asked what was playing on the sound system.

Here's a Maggie Bell track you might remember ;)

Ah yes, I had forgotten about that, very good - another musician/singer that slipped under the radar.

Cheers,

Tim

I am working on the layout, well have been and will be again once I finish forum reading, with music on -
A selection I have called Metal Maidens - A range of symphonic metal bands with female singers as well as an odd grunge and others for interest!

In This Moment
Epica
Nightwish
Evanescence
Within Tempotation
Lacuna Coil
L7
Mute Prophet
and others!

Best wishes
Simon

Hi Simon,

Some good bands in there and some I don't know at all.

Thanks Tim. Frumpy passed me by it seems but that track has aroused my interest so I'll investigate further.
I did get into Krautrock a bit in the early 70s and saw Amon Duul.

I've been a little quiet lately largely because of our impending house move which is gathering momentum at the moment.
Cheers
