Bonjour chers francophones,

Good day fellow francophones,
Can you advise which train shops and on-line sellers in France offer good service?
I will probably be buying mostly on-line but it is always good to know where a good shop is for when I might be in the region.
In Paris many model railway shops have closed down in the 30 years that I have been here.
The rue de Douai still has several.
I can't remember if it's in the 9th or the 18th arrondissement, but be careful, it's close to the Pigalle red light area.
I don't know if you're aware of it but the equivalent of the N Gauge Society exists in France.
It's called l'Association Française des Amis du N (l'AFAN).
Bonjour.
Voici les 3 boutiques que je connais et recommande :
- Trains 160 (Lyon), www.trains160.com
Bon shopping.

Hello.
Here are the 3 shops I know and I can recommend:
- Trains 160 (Lyon), www.trains160.com
- L'Atelier du Train (Orléans), www.latelierdutrain.com
- Baron du rail (Caen), www.barondurail.com
There is also Jura Modélisme, www.jura-modelisme.fr, which has good reputation. But I haven't bought something from them so far.
To be avoided: Pierre Dominique, for which there are many negative feedback (including from myself).
Enjoy !
As well as French model shops, you can enjoy the benefits of the EU single market for your online shopping. I use DM Toys (https://www.dm-toys.de/fr/index.html) on a regular basis as they have a good selection of Farish and Dapol rolling stock on offer.
Don't be put off going to the shops on the rue de Douai, the area is safe and the shops are worth a visit. There is also "Au Pullman" (https://aupullman.com/) nearby on the rue d'Amsterdam that is worth a visit.
Bonnes courses !
Kevin
Many thanks all for the advice.
I have been to Paris quite a few times over the years, so I am not worried about security.
How about during the Olympics? ;)

That's still safer than when PSG lose at home in the Champions League, or when the CGT kick off against the CRS. :smiley-laughing:
For what it may be worth, given that I'm ordering from the UK, in the past year I have successfully bought from the following suppliers in France:
- Trains 160 (erm... frequently :-[ )
- Architecture & Passion
- Cités Miniatures
- Bois Modélisme
- Riches Heures
- TJ Modèles, although at the time that was through his eBay site not his website
- Decapod for acrylic paints
I take back what I said about that part of Paris being safe ;D

Ummmm? I wonder if it was regularly checked by a qualified mechanical engineer, or just the bloke who services the condom vending machines? ;)
Just got my first purchase delivered from L'atelier du train. Excellent service.
Merci de me les recommander ohlavache
