I do my supermarket shop on line! It's easier and as our nearest Tesco is 8 miles away cheaper too.

oh don't start me on that ...

SWMBO makes a list ....

maybe £25 of items....

go to store ....

checkout ....

HOW MUCH  !!!  :censored:

needless to say, list is just a starting point ....

now when I  go down the model shop .....  :'(

Went with Mrs Daffy to M&S Food store this morning on the way to Sainsbury's.

Just to buy half a dozen of their lovely mince pies.

Spent a tad more than they cost - too many temptations one man and his wife can possibly pass by without faltering. :)

At Sainsbury's the rabble were out in force, with the usual car-park polka to contend with. Plenty of trolleys being driven around the aisles by folks who have lost the ability to coordinate eyes with brain. Email advertised vegetables with "long best before date" were nothing of the sort, thus requiring further foray next week into the fray. Went home without buying a thing there.

Now enjoying a mince pie or two to ensure we have the strength to venture forth once again on Monday.

Next year I think we'll hibernate.

The Q

It gets really stupid at supermarkets at this time of year.
I did 3 or 4.years as an in-store maintenance technician.  They have to attend the store  Christmas Eve..
Punters parking inside trolley parks..
Parking across other shoppers cars or in the entrance to the warehouse loading bay.
I'd often end up acting as traffic warden trying to keep traffic flowing past the filling station as neither would give way.

Punters would,
Do their shopping in night clothes ,
try to push 3 trolleys round at once,
If there was a way to ram something with a trolley they would,
Open fire doors to get out, to save getting through the crowds at the entrance, which of course sets the alarms off.

It does have advantages,   during the last hour the management get desperate to sell all fresh stock that would other wise have to be written off.  One year I came home with a turkey so big,  legs and wings had to be removed to get in the oven and it was 2/3rds off list price.

This is more a frustration than unhappy.

I was supposed to be having an Arthroscopy on my right knee today, but thanks to my lovely Wife giving me her sodding cold the anaesthiatist has said that she recommends me to not have the Operation today but to postpone it until 20th January,

Now I kind of understand her thinking in that having the Operation with with a cold brewing 'might' cause complications in the next few days which 'could' include a chest infection, I had no choice but to agree with her.

With SWMBO being a Nurse of some 30 years experience, she did warn me that they may cancel it. I've vented my frustrations with my lovely wife bringing home said cold and have ensured that she understands that she now has to make it up to me in a big way, by ensuring that I am attended too immediately whenever I need a cup of tea  ;) ;) because I'm sure over the next couple of days I will be suffering from full blown, crippling flu and cannot possibly look after myself in anyway, shape or form.

Ahh well it now means I have to go back to work on Monday and not mid-Feb as previously planned  :'( :'( :'(

Cheers

Neal.

don't forget to remind her that the best cure for flue is scottish water ... in substantial amounts  :beers:

it may not cure it, but you don't mind the treatment  :smiley-laughing:

daffy

Surely you can't be thinking of going back to work on Monday  :o

It could be Man-Flu, and that's really bad  ;) and needs full isolation, probably for a week, and preferably in a train room, with copious supplies of food and beverage made available at all times by a convenient nurse. Thank heavens you have one close at hand.
