Hi all

A lady contacted our club recently as she has some railway bits n bobs to get rid of after her father passed away.
Most of it was 00 but she wanted to hang onto the little items shown below.
She asked how much, if anything, they might be worth and also asked if I could find out exactly what they are. I'm afraid I have no idea but I thought......someone on the forum will know.

If anyone has any information I'll gladly pass it on.
Cheers
Martin

It is mostly 1960s/70s HOe (aka HO9) narrow gauge stuff

The two locos look like very old German N gauge items (possibly original Arnold)

Right is an old BR80 (Arnold or Minitrix)
Left a heavily modified old Minitrix T3 (middle axle removed, modified cabin..)

Photo 1
Caoches brown to the right and red white left are OLD n gauge continentals (pre-standard couplings)
Blue coach seems H0e

Photo 2
H0e and H0f stuff. Loco in front seems H0f

I would say photo 5 both locos are old Arnold, ** However the scale is difficult to judge in the photo, they just could be old TT locos.  Maybe photo them alongside a rule?     Certainly not an original old Minitrix T3 (that had solid wheels), and the later better detailed model bears no resemblance.

Other than the curious red/cream coaches the rest are as Gordon says HOe narrow gauge of quite old vintage by Liliput, Jouef, Eggerbahn

The red/cream coaches look like kit-built and/or at least a repaint of something.  Strange couplings which I think I've seen before somewhere.

[edit]
Yup, I think the two locos are TT.  Take a look here

The other is an old Rokal TT

So those odd coaches are probably old TT models of some sort, but I've not identified them yet

As to "worth", well that's down to personal opinion really.

The TT stuff are old basic start-set items, bashed about and repainted, personally I wouldn't put much value on those at all.

The HOe stuff, whilst also old, is still useable by HOe and 009 modellers if in reasonable condition so might return a few quid on ebay in the narrow gauge category, perhaps as a joblot? I wouldn't set expectations too high though. Have you tested the Jouef/Eggerbahn steam tram and the Decauville locos?

Hi Nick

Thanks for the information.
I can't test the locomotives. The lady was reluctant to let me have them as she wants to keep them for sentimental reasons.
She was simply interested to learn what they are and to see if they were worth anything but I'll tell her she's better off keeping them.
She grew up in Germany (with British parents) and remembers her Dad having a smallish scenic layout in the mid 1960s.

She's given our club some 00 bits and pieces to sell on her behalf (with 15% to club funds)  but really there is little of value.
This is all stuff she found at the back of her Dad's garage. Apparently her sister sold nigh on 100 00 gauge locos to a dealer some three years ago. I wonder what she was paid for them ?

Anyway, thanks Nick and everyone else for the  info which I will pass on.
Cheers

Still need to identify the little centre-cab diesel, can you post a close-up of that?

Yup, so I think that's probably an old Tillig TT model missing buffers, the modern equivalent model being something like this one

Off topic a bit, but I never cease to be amazed at the amount of knowledge/expertise amongst Forum members.  And I've enjoyed reading the detective work on this thread - well done chaps.

ntpntpntp

I must admit I enjoyed bumbling around on google to find the evidence, once I'd come to the conclusion of the likely origins :)

My lad and I already possess examples of some of the HOe stuff shown so that was easy. I'm rather fond of the ancient Eggerbahn stuff.

I also have a few bits of TT and just needed a bit of trawling through images of "TT dampflok", "TT personenwagen" etc. for the particular specimens shown.  When the models are obviously old European bits and pieces I find searching using the German terms works best.

No, in photo 2 the front train is the legendary 1960s Eggerbahn/Jouef Eggerbahn 020T aka 040T named 'Steatite' and its three 'mine tub' type works railway hoppers. Although 'Feldbahn' in nature it was standard 'HOe'
