the EU changed the rules on tamper-evident packaging

Not sure if this is relevant or not, but the plastic bottle that I get every month with my tablets in, comes in a cardboard box, with a perforated top to open.  Quite often, the cardboard box has been opened when I get my tablets and I have thought about mentioning it, but have never bothered as the tablet bottle is always sealed. Then it dawned on me last week, most times, the instructions for taking the tablets, (one a day - who needs instructions?), are on the outside of the plastic bottle. How are they going to stick the instructions on the bottle if they don't open the box?   :doh: :-[ . However, what earns this post a place in the Unhappy Thread, is that the bottle top is a right pain to get off and once I have done that there is a seal which I have never been able to pull off - thank goodness I have some craft knifes!  ;) The bottle certainly qualifies as "tamper-evident".

'child proof' try '73 year old proof'  >:(

should be able to get a pair of mole-grips and a stanley knife on prescription  :smiley-laughing:

There was a case reticently of a girl who died as she could not get her EpiPen out of its plastic wrapping.

My wife has rheumatoid arthritis - one of the medications comes as an injection, which she can only just manage to operate, so I normally do it and the other comes as tablets, with a weird lid, that she has no hope of opening herself. What is the point of dispensing RA meds in containers that no-one with RA will be able to open?

Generally speaking, if you can't get a child-proof container open, give it to a child ... they'll normally have it open in seconds!

I don't necessarily consider myself feek and weable but there are times when I take the plastic cap off the milk and then just cannot for the life of me heave off the diaphragm underneath :-[
We hates getting old, don't we, preciousssss :(

I think the hardest part of getting old(er), is admitting that fact. I remember the first time I went to see the prostate specialist, sitting in the waiting room thinking that it was full of old men.  :doh:

I have a few days holiday booked for September, staying with my sister and her husband. So why am I unhappy? It has just dawned on me that the day I come back is the day of the Enniskillen Model Rail show! It is held once a year and is the only show I can get to easily, so I am having to miss it.  :'(  Fortunately I am going to the show in Peterborough in December, so at least I will get to see something this year.

For anybody interested in the Enniskillen show -

Woeful news, people! So dire, I really can't understand why it hasn't pushed all the other bad news off the front pages. Our village bakery (Humphreys, established 1796) has closed! Not because it didn't make a profit - there was always a long queue out of the door. Unfortunately, the master baker, who is in his 80s, has been taken ill and it seems unlikely he will return. We are all hoping it will re-open under new ownership soon but in the meantime there are a lot of people suffering sudden apple turnover deprivation.  :(

Hope the baker recovers to enjoy some quality retirement time. I fear that your apple turnovers may never be as good again. :beers:

I have channel hopped through all the TV channels but.......nada, zilch, zero, nought, rien, nichts etc
They'll happily report on some Z lister getting a zit on their ugly mug but this is major news and should be granted the gravitas it deserves. A replacement baker of equivalent skill should be rushed to the scene.
I blame society ::)

@Papyrus  I can imagine how you must be feeling. Once a week, I make a 40 mile round trip to Carrick-on-Shannon, primarily to visit a coffee shop there, where they must have a small bakery in the back. They do not make their own bread, but do bake cakes and the like. The strawberry tarts are out of this world. I know both Louisa and myself would be devastated if they stopped. If any of you ever find yourselves in Carrick, I can thoroughly recommend 'Coffeys', just by the bridge over the Shannon, for coffee and maybe a light lunch. :thumbsup: I hope the baker gets back to good health.

Sounds like a wonderful place! Sadly, we've never quite managed to cross the Irish Sea, despite our love of the music and the dancing and (in my case) the black stuff. One day, perhaps...

Cheers,

Chris

@Papyrus
If you, (or any other member of the forum), ever do decide to visit 'Lovely Leitrim' let me know.  I can point out some of the sites for you including the Cavan and Leitrim Railway and of course, Coffeys.  ;)
