Well a update, not got the parcel today has promised. I kept checking the tracking and it showed they had the parcel from just before 5.00am this morning, deliver just said today before 10.00pm. Well all of a sudden the order status went to ON HOLD, so I rung Rails they were a waste of time. I kept going on the tracking then mid afternoon I got a phone call from DHL, they were having operational issues so now it coming tomorrow, no time so another day wasted staying in. The local DHL is very good, this DHL calls itself DHL Express, I asked the guy when he rung what does that mean...lol. So Not Happy at all, whats the point of paying extra for worse service, Apparntly Rails have stopped using DPD which gave you a time slot, so PO or the other PO office service forgot the name. I do not like using po the guy on the local van does not bother trying a neghbour, just shoves  a card through and drives off so you have to wait for next day or go and collect. So maybe no more Rails for me.

Quote from: lil chris on September 10, 2024, 09:07:10 AMJust a warning to anyone buying from Rails of Sheffield, there is a option for delivery by DHL, don't bother it's DHL express and it does not give you a time, Your Delivery Will Be By End Of Day...... so stuck in waiting, I should have paid more for DPD.

I believe DHL stands for "Drop, Hide, Lose"  :hmmm:
Unfortunately when shipping to a lot of the Pacific Islands (PNG, FIji, Samoa etc) they are the only choice.

DHL!!! I have ordered a new mobile phone for Louisa from Google in Dublin on 8th September. The phone started its journey in The Netherlands on the 9th September. It then went to Belgium and arrived in Shannon over night. Not bad going, even though the original acknowledgemt said the phone would arrive yesterday, (10th). I have this morning received an email from DHL stating that the delivery is 'on hold'. I rang the telephone number given, but that is not recognised!  ??? . Yet the tracking information shows either that the package is on hold, or, that it will be delivered tomorrow, depending which bit of the site you read. Why do companies have to make things so complicated! I will have to wait until tomorrow to see if it will be delivered - or await further emails.  >:( . No wonder I am what is called 'a grumpy old man'!

I use to work for DHL, they were the worst company I've ever worked for. I've seen how they treat stuff and I certainly would not recommend it. Many unhappy memories...

Well the saga of the 5MT I bought from Rails has not been resolved. They have had the returned loco since last Saturday yet they still not have issued me with a refund, so a week no refund. I rung them on Wednesday and the excuse was they are busy, so not a happy bunny, I will think twice about buying anything s/h in future from them. At least my local shop issues the refund straight away so I voted for him in the Hornby awards, not Rails.

Sometimes you can not beat the personal touch and, sadly, it seems these days that the bigger a company gets, the personal touch seems to get inversely proportionately  smaller!  :(

Well an update, Rails sent me a message that the loco had been transferred to the technical dept, in a post to them I sent a reply saying it was about time they have had it a week. Today I received another message telling me they had experienced the same fault has I reported. There is a fault with the driving wheels slipping on the axle and the tender wheels had partly melted some of the plastic inserts causing a fair amount of drag. Unfortunately this is something they are unable to repair do I want another loco, a voucher or a refund. Refund please, it does not give you confidence in buying anything s/h off them considering there was a card with the loco saying tested. Has anyone heard of this problem with GF 5MT's, I have a green 5MT that runs fine but one wonders what happened to this loco to get in this state, the mind boggles.

My Mum is 82 and house bound so I do on line shopping for here

so today her Iceland order turns up and 50% of it is missing

so I get on to customer services explain about my Mum but they refuse to speak to me as they can only deal with the account holder

I explain that I am the account holder it is in my name and if they look they find orders for both of us

still no joy as the order is for my Mum they will only speak to her using GDPR as an excuse

so I have sent an angry Email to there customer services that in it's self took and age to find

it is as if they don't want you to complain

I bought a Schools class in April 2022 , from Rails , but cannot fault them like @lil chris. The first one would not move , the tested replacement worked for a few weeks then the cable connectors broke and off to DCC for 5 weeks. Back to DCC as it wasn't fixed. March 2024 the motor burned out - then the replacement motor burned out and caused damage to the tender  in July 2024.This motor then developed a fault so now virtually useless. So of the two years that I've had this I would estimate that I've used for about half of that time. Wrote to Dapol, who denied any liability, but they sent me  a Not quite perfect Schools class to cannibalise to repair the original as a do-it-yourself project. I have to pay for repairs , so for a model costing nearly £200 (with the next repairs) for about 12 month use.  I accept that the motor breakages were not down to Dapol , as they were acquired and repaired by a third part in association with DCC (who have been helpful throughout). I'm not sure what I expected from Dapol , but I didn't expect a do-it-yourself project. I'm very angry.

Estate Agents ::)
Having finally got the go-ahead to sell our deceased sister's property I met with a rep from the Estate Agents last Friday morning, asked her to provide a written valuation, told her her company could sell it, and passed over the keys.
This morning I get an e mail asking me to meet the photographer at the house on Thursday.
Why? The house is empty. Photographer can collect the keys from the agents, go and do his thing and return the keys to the agents. Job done.
I've rung them and told them, and asked why they even tried that on knowing all of the above :unimpressed:
