As a youngster I used to be fascinated by his programmes (not just Tomorrow's World) but 'Burke's Special' and 'Connections' Like Brian Cox, he made tricky scientific issue understandable to an oik like me #6

I had the privilege a couple of years ago to attend one of his live shows (with my mum who is a retired Chemistry & Physics teacher!). That one was primarily on time venturing into time-travel and black-holes. Mum still gives him credit for us catching the last bus home 15 minutes after it was due! #7
