Will do mate. I have always loved this loco since as when I was a nipper my dad got me on the footplate at Darlington station and the fireman gave me a piece of coal as a souvenir. Lost the coal long ago but still remember the excitement  ;D
Keeping well mate but working 12 hours a day for last few weeks so layout work has ground to a temporary halt. Still running the trains round and round while catching up on the forum though  ;D

Picked up my new Scotsman from the sorting office this morning and having finished work late again I am just running her in now after fitting a TCS decoder. At first I thought I would never get the tender body off to chip her but after messing on for a while I found that you just need to hold the sides of the tender near the back, between finger and thumb, give a little sideways wiggle while lifting it up and it came off easily.  She comes with 3 bags of spares and detailing parts and looks absolutely beautiful, detail and paint finish are excellent and she seems to be going ok in both directions although she is a bit noisy compared to my other steamers, hopefully this will improve with running. I will have to run her a bit longer before I can tell you more.
She has had a good half hour forward and reverse both clockwise and anti-clockwise on my roundy roundy and handles all curves and points very nicely. After this hour of running the tender sides are barely warm.
There is one major problem though, now I am going to have to get a rake of Gresley Teaks, now where did I put that plastic  ;D

Thanks for the review Marty
You've really gotta get some teaks now

OwL

Thanks Marty. Nice review. I'm gonna splash some cash on this. My first N gauge loco was minitrix Flying Scotsman in apple green. Still going strong. I also have the original Hornby 00 flying Scotsman train set still boxed with teak coaches. The only 00 gauge I own and probably ever will.

After more running my Scotsman is quietening down nicely and continues to perform really well, slow speed running is superb!
Postman arrived today with 5 Gresley Teaks, where did they come from  :smiley-laughing:. She really looks the business hauling these round the layout.

Good on ya Marty :Dapol:

Just make sure you hide the credit card bill before SWMBO finds out what you are up to ;)

I'm glad the loco has run in fine. This will give me more confidence to buy one.

All the best

hi all

i picked up my scotsman yesterday and must say it appears to be a good runner and shows none of the
reported high speed running problems that the A4 can suffer from  :-X

and as Marty says the slow running is exellent by far my best loco for this

i say it appears to be a good runner because at the moment i am suffering with blocked ears and can hardly hear it
but if it makes the noises my A4 did before it was fully run in then i think i would hear it  :o

hi all

i was just wondering has anyone out there had one from hattons  ???

i am asking this as it has never appeared as being "in stock" and i thought it strange that everywere else has had them except Hattons
and was wondering if they only ordered enough to fill their pre-orders

but it still seems strange for them to miss an opportunity like "flying scotsman" as it was bound to be a popular locomotive
