The largest container vessel (currently) in the world has docked at Felixstowe with 19,100 containers from China on board.
Would it be too much to hope there may be some N gauge stuff in one or more of them? :hmmm:

Model Rail have announced on facebook they have a parcel from Bachmann containing review samples of new 00 stuff and a 37/0 in dutch livery from Farish... Could there be more goodies on the next boat perhaps?

Just imagine if we could make all our own products instead of importing, this nation would be Great once again.

Here is me day dreaming again. ::)

only caught the end of this in tv, but I didn't hear if it was 19,100 containers or 19,100 standard units.

either way, an awfull lot of stuff coming into UK, just goes to show how little we actually make here any more, except Jaguars, Landrovers and JCBs.

psst any one want to buy some, only slightly damp  :smiley-laughing:

Just a thought but an N gauge model of the ship would be 2.7metres long  You could construct an N gauge layout on the N gauge model ship

Maybe another time

They're not all for the UK ;)

These ships just go from port-to-port on a constant round voyage - some containers will come off at Felixstowe, others will be loaded on for other destinations, and off it goes again :)

Let's hope it doesn't take a detour down the Solent. We wouldn't want it running aground now would we............ ;)

It'll probably be 19,100 TEU's, that means 19,100 20' ISO containers @ 8' high or half that for 40 footers 8' high or less for other sizes etc. etc.

I really should know more about this boat, I am in the industry.  Seen it on TV and the media recently; very impressive.  More impressive for me is the speed these ships do now for such low emissions and persons onboard.  I've never been on a container ship yet but moved hundreds of ISO's on-off my last offshore boat.

...I hard up to 10,000 containers get washed overboard in heavy weather every year.  I'm very impressed how quick (and cheap) things can get sent by container -but imagine if you packed your life into one when moving and it was lost????  We certainly found allot of random things dropped on the North Sea bed these past few years, I imagine it may look like a scrapyard when the water goes.

hopefully at least one has the arriva trains wales extra coaches for the arriva trains 67 box set and other assorted dapol goodies
