These classes,

08,20,24,25,26,31,37,40,47, possibly these 2 classes 56,58,

I forgot these Claytons( not modelled yet)Westerns and Hymeks

I have probably missed some others.

Most diesels will have hauled them at some point though the 56 and 58 are far less likely, the latter being used predominantly on air braked HAA rakes. Class 20s in pairs, especially around the Nottingham coalfield, were common as muck on them into the '80s; until the miners strike at least. South Wales saw a lot of class 37's on them in the valleys, but really anything goes. It'll depend more on the area and the type of train (bulk from colliery to power station/industrial user or local from the yars to smaller customers) as to what would have hauled them, so apply rule 1, you can't go far wrong with 16 tonners (just avoid modern air braked locos). ;)

I would also add the 33, 42 and the 44/45/46 but I don't run anything beyond the 52's :D

I have a picture of a class 56 pulling a rake of MCV and MCO wagons full of scrap metal just outside of Warrington in 1984 if that's any help on the 56 front.

My dad found me a book on 58s and in it there are no pictures of them hauling 16t minerals, they have hauled a fair bit in their time though so it's pretty much rule 1.
