So now we need another run of 47's with push pull equipment and DBSO's  ;)

Steven B

Yeah, I've got two BSOs to make up for the lack of TSOs, but oddly enough I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. Although I didn't realise that the underframe is different, I was thinking that I could just add the seating section from a FK and add the yellow stripe. Is the underframe radically different?

The roof vents are different... which is something that I didn't address on my conversion. A Mk 2 FK seating insert should be straightforward (using a Mk 1 interior is less so).

After much searching, I've finally found a photo of a train of Scotrail Mk2a with a DBSO:

(1A59 1125 Glasgow Queen Street to Aberdeen 1985)

Much more common was the odd Mk2a in a rake of Mk2d/Mk2e:

Nice photo, Bruce Galloway the photographer of this shot is part of the team from SDEG who have been producing various books on Scottish diesels, the one covering the 47/7s and push/pull stock has lots of good info around the coaching stock used https://www.rmweb.co.uk/forums/topic/175789-the-sdeg-scotlands-diesel-fleet-in-detail-volume-3-scotrail-express-the-class-474s/#comment-5532159

On a seperate note the upcoming ScotRail Mk2 374-714 has the same running number (5146) as the ScotRail Mk2 previously released in the twin pack with the Mk1 BG.
I emailed Bachmann to seek conformation and the reply was that the running number of one of the new releases is the same as the previous ScotRail MK2.
Disappointing as there were 5 of these types of Mk2 in ScotRail that I could work out.

Not to worry the wallet will be a little healthier!!

Keith.

Yes, Mk2a FK could be found in NSE:

THe Mk2a FK has only been produced in Green. Maroon and Blue/grey to date.

Farish have released the Mk2a BSO and TSO in NSE as part of 370-430 (Capital Connection train pack).

They also released the BSO as 374-682 and TSO as 374-711.

thanks for the replies!

my nse rake only has one first class coach (a mk1 fk) so just wondered...  its a mix of 5 mk2a and 3 mk1s.

it's handy they are making more blue and grey mk2a anyway so will be adding a few. I currently have 2 tso, 1 fk and 1 bso mk2a in blue grey.

I can mix and match as well to add some blue grey into the nse train.

cheers

On the Scotrail Coaches:

After the introduction of the Class 47/7 Push-pulls a small pool of coaches previously used by the class 27 Push-pulls, enough to form a single rake, was retained as a standby set.
When performance of the both the 47/7 and DBSO proved to be better than expected a peak service was formed using the standby coaches and a spare DBSO.
This at various points operated between Perth or Dunblane to Glasgow or Edinburgh. Whilst running the peak service the coaches were first repainted into Scotrail and then Downgraded with the removal of First class.
With the introduction of Push-pull Services to Aberdeen (Made up of Airconditioned Mk2's) the Standard class coaches joined the First Corridor coach as loose coaches.
There was little slack in the fleet of Standard class airconditioned mk2 coaches used on the Aberdeen trains so the early mk2'swere often used to replace or strengthen these trains or found themselves on the small number of air-braked Scottish services. (Mainly additional runs from Edinburgh or Glasgow to Aberdeen or the Inverness Trains.)

Pictures of the FK are hard to come by and rarer still in a push pull set.
Here is one on a unidentified service to Aberdeen.

The First Corridor was withdrawn and scrapped early on with asbestos being a quoted reason for its early withdrawal.
There was a replacement for the FK but it never gained ScotRail Livery as can be seen here:

I must confess to being tempted by both blue & grey and NSE Mk2a stock (the latter to go with 33117). I wish someone would do a RTR 4TC as well.

I'm really delighted that the Mk.2 stock is returning to the dealers' shelves (and N-Gaugers' layouts), but they're not much use to me as my modelling period stops at 01/11/1963.
My trousers' knees are getting worn out by my praying to the Great (Bach)Mann in the Sky for the re-release of the Bulleid coaches in BR(S) Stock Green, along with Mk.1 stock (for 3-car sets in the 500 series in the Green livery. A MK.1 RKB (in Maroon) would be rather nice, though I know that catering vehicles are not money-makers for manufacturers, and what about a Mk.1 BSO or BFK?
Re-runs of the gorgeous BachFar SR C Class 0-6-0 and the BR 4MT 2-6-4T would, I'm sure, be welcomed. (Mind you, I'm still dreaming of an R-T-R BR 4MT 4-6-0 (with double-chimney options?)...

Hi Cols

A lot of the stuff you want I was lucky enough to get first time round, with the result that I'm now suitably stocked. I found that in the main it has been better to buy stuff as it comes out, plus keeping a good eye on eBay, at shows, and in shops. There are still a lot of bargains out there though, you just have to keep an eye out. The only exception recently was the Birdcage stock, which I paid discounted full whack for as it came out, only to see them be remaindered for £30-£40 less a while back. The same goes for 4CEPs which Hattons couldn't get rid of at £89.

Best of luck with finding what you need. I'd love a 4MT 4-6-0 too, one of the real big omissions in N.

Keep looking and hoping!

If you're happy to bid there's a set of Bulleids here........

https://tinyurl.com/ye8atcxz

If they brought out another run of the C class and included the SECR livery one I'd snap one up purely for the looks

Cols

Ouch! Poor old(?) Southern Gooner, paying the "full whack" for the Birdcage set - I got mine from Rails for £79. Mind you, you're absolutely right to recommend keeping an eye on other sources than the "big dealers". However, I don't do E bay - don't like hazarding my basic OAP. I'd really like to get hold of another three Green Mk.1s to make up another BR(S) set for West of England services - I already have Set 518, but there is no hurry, and the BR(S) green Bulleid stock surely must be getting somewhere near the top of the Farish re-release list... I hope!
I wholeheartedly agree with you that the BR 4MT 4-6-0 is a glaring omission from the N-Gauge R-T-R range, but I've now waited sooo veeery long for the Dapol WC/BB (12+ years) that I've learnt to be patient, but at least I've now ordered 34030 "Watersmeet"...
Now all I wish for (in addition to the above!) is a few decent Collett, mid-1930s gangwayed coaches in BR maroon, or crimson and cream, I do rather dislike the 1938 "sunshine" stock from Dapol - out of the three vehicles only the BCK/BTK and SK/TK are accurate; the CK is not, being "descended" from the 1970s Airfix 00 products and inheriting the the same mistake in using the same body as the SK/TK. I must admit that the NGS/Dapol Collett BG is a little beauty.
