Title: Virgin Class 57/3
Post by: PWayman on September 13, 2017, 05:17:17 PM
A question for Ben or Mike.     On one of the pics posted from Tings where the Pendolino was running was a Virgin class 57/3 apparently hauling the set.
I am sure I should know the answer as I feel certain it has been brought up before, so sorry but please indulge this question.

Is there provision on the class 390 sets for attaching a 57/3 to the front  ?  I have 2 390's on order and it would be nice to be able to drag a set over a non electrified secondary line on my West Coast layout.

There is a removable section on the nose to allow for just that!

As Kira says the front panel pops out (as on the real thing) and there is an NEM coupler socket behind it.  Just pop in the NEM coupler of your choice (I think there is due to be 1 or 2 couplers in the box) and hook it up to a 57.

Cheers, Mike

Thanks for the replies guys      I sort of figured that was the case.   Can't wait for the 2 Pendos to arrive.  Will they be accompanied by the lighting units I have also ordered at the same time ?
