York Railway Museum is a must see.
North York Moors Railway - 26 miles north at Pickering is seemingly not running while you are there.
Its great for one or two nights. The rooms are somewhat tight on space and not what you would call luxurious by any means but then how often can you look out of your bed and see main line trains passing?
If you want to know what trains are going by there are two web sites you could look at
Try this and track north a bit (left then diagojnally up) http://raildar.co.uk/map/YRK (http://raildar.co.uk/map/YRK)
Or this one http://www.opentraintimes.com/maps/signalling/yrk#LINK_1 (http://www.opentraintimes.com/maps/signalling/yrk#LINK_1)
Thank you guy's appreciate the replies, York Railway Museum it is :) Thought for some reason it was a lot further but I should have actually checked guessing a nice day out there :)
I'll check the link's you've sent me when at home, Work have them blocked but It'll 'Keep me quite' for a bit
:beers:
We drove to the park & ride and caught the bus into York
I'll have a look online and see what's exhibited there currently. Park & Ride Noted :)

Ditto - an easy journey and there is an online map so you can see which stop in the city centre is nearest the museum, but a walk across the city via the cathedral from the first stop in the centre area is worthwhile.
PS - the museum runs a raid train from near the cathedral direct to the front door.

No way I thought these were only abroad lol. Last time I was on one of these was a child in Spain. So much nostalgia for me. Used to bug my Nana to go on it everyday :)
Monk Bar Models is open on the 3rd if you have any money left

I'm spent up unfortunately :(
Although I was extremely fortunate over Christmas and think I couple of weeks without packages arriving everyday might go down better lol

Don't forget to wear a body belt or truss to protect you from the stop-start jolting as the train makes its way through the mayhem of traffic. :D
Really that bad lol, I can just see now sat at the back shouting at traffic :beers:
Cutty Blacks models is worth a visit (S York - via bus) - get a day bus pass on the bus - cheaper

I think a cheeky visit maybe in order now I shouldn't but :beers:
If you are going to Cutty Blacks remember the "Blue Bell" is just up the road (nearer to the main road) best little pub in York.

Unfortunately I didn't get to stop at 'The Sidings' our room's heating was not working which they called to advise. We had already set off so they generously offered to pay for another hotel and stay a different night. We chose to head to York anyways not far from home only an hour and half so changed to go in June instead my Birthday night which is a win and Summer months :)
Didn't get to stop but they were more than helpful :beers:
That's a shame :(
June = summer? How very optimistic of you and I hope you turn out to be right ;)
I have to be optimistic, I ain't begging the weather lol :beers:
June should be good. You can sit in their garden area with a beer and watch the trains go by all evening.
